Description: From its exclusive owner comes this very attractive specimen of Sturm Ruger’s original Blackhawk series Revolver begun in 1955. From its 30-33000 range serial number, it was manufactured in 1970, sixteenth year of production. We sold it new to one of our local Irish American kinsmen. Manufacturer was Sturm Ruger of Southport, Conn., U.S.A., and so marked on the left side of the barrel. Type is single action only western style revolver, descendant of the Colt 1873 Single Action Army. Construction is blued steel barrel, main frame, cylinder, screws and springs, with hammer lateral surfaces in the white. Grip frame, ejector rod housing, and rear sight body are anodized alloy. Barrel is 6 1/2 inch, 1:16 right hand twist, 8 groove, with serrated ramp front sight. Rear sight is Micro type windage and elevation adjustable with black blade. Cylinder holds 6 rounds of .38 Smith & Wesson Special and .357 Remington Magnum caliber ammunition, interchangeably. Hammer is .295 serrated spur with blued vertical surfaces; trigger is .200 smooth faced steel. Ignition is flat hammer face against floating firing pin. This Old Model Blackhawk, being original, does not have a transfer bar safety device, only a half cock position to the hammer, so it is advisable not to carry with the hammer resting on a cartridge primer. Ruger will install a transfer bar conversion free of charge, but that would damage the collectability. Grips are Herretts oversize walnut target type with cut checkering and ambidextrous thumb rest risers. The Herretts bring overall length from 12.38 inches up to 12 1/2 inches, and they add 5/8 inch to the revolver’s height. Weight empty on this specimen is 41 ounces, with center of gravity at mid cylinder. Cousin Alfred bought the grips new from us shortly after he bought the revolver, they were a rather pricey $15.00 on top of the $89 he spent on the new revolver itself. This Blackhawk has served as a house and farm gun, light duty for the past 44 years. Surface detractions are only moderate, with faint amounts of edge whitening and occasional finish freckling. The Herretts show finish loss on their edges. We rate this Blackhawk as Very Good Condition, 80 to 85 percent by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It has been fired fewer than 300 times. Blast effect to the under side of the frame top strap directly above the barrel’s forcing cone is minimal, only a faint shallow streak that traverses 2/3 of the width of the top strap. Bore, cylinder chambers, and mechanism are all bright and clean. Cylinder times correctly in all six positions; we were unable to get the hammer to stand on an unlocked cylinder even with the slowest of pulls. Single action trigger pull is a very light but original 2 1/4 pounds, with 2mm worth of travel by our estimate. This is, then, a very attractive and well preserved locally owned Ruger. We’re offering it for only $ 489.00. Not transferable to civilian residents of Massachusetts. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> $15 lower 48; $40 AK, HI, PR, USPS Priority. 7 day money back on used items, but No Returns on NIB, Lay-away, or Ammo. Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
