The barrel date is 11-44 and is most likely original barrel. The throat reads a tad under 3 and the muzzle reads 1. This equates to a barrel that has hardly been shot and will last for many years to come. This rifle is a NON-IMPORT and came from the DCM/CMP it's 100% USGI. Metal finish is excellent it's a green/gray color. It has an original lock bar sight. SA bolt and trigger. Stock is a Walnut premium original GI stock from SA with a SA stamped on the butt and a P in the wrist and with a beautiful reddish color. It came with a pretty nasty stock made of Birch and I happened to have this spare stock which is the only part I've changed on it. I've recently cleaned the stock and applied about 3 coats of linseed oil. These really nice stocks alone bring hundreds of dollars. I have not fired this rifle and it probably hasn't been shot in 60 or 70 years. If your looking for a Garand that's about as good as it gets then here it is. I'll put this rifle up against any of them. If you buy it and don't like it I'll take it back. Just leave it at your FFL's and have him send it back to me, you pay the fee and freight.
