The drum has a capacity of 75 rounds and is loaded from the rear and then the spring is wound for use. The magazine can be stored loaded with no spring tension (no fatigue on the magazine) and then wound prior to use. The clam shell design makes cleaning and loading simple and easy. There may be some fitting adjustments since all SKS rifles are slightly different. There are numerous youtube video on how to properly fit these drums if necessary. The laws are changing day by day!
