Description: Underwood M1 carbine .30 cal, serial number 2857xxx. Mid WW2 receiver and barrel are Underwood, as are almost all the marked parts on this carbine. Nice looking bore, muzzle erosion is 2. This carbine shoots great-accurate too.

The carbine has been disassembled, examined, cleaned and lubricated. Parts are detailed below and in photos.

PART DETAILS:

-Receiver: July 1943 - Feb 1944.

-Barrel: Underwood, marked 1-44, also flaming bomb and firing proof “P”. The barrel has the ribbed surface, parkerized finish is in very good condition. Under the front of the barrel is very faint lettering: “Davidson's Greensboro NC”. This lettering is barely impressed in the surface, and can only be seen up close if the light is at just the right angle. Barrel ME: 2

-Front sight: marked “.U.”, Underwood

-Rear sight: adjustable stamped type, marked “I.R.CO.”

-Bolt: round, parkerized, marked “.U.”, Underwood

-Firing pin: parkerized, marked “.U.”, Underwood

-Extractor: late type flat lip, unmarked

-Barrel band: bayonet lug type, Type C, marked “JM”. Excellent condition, no pitting

-Trigger housing: fabricated type, marked “.U.”, Underwood

-Safety: pushbutton, unmarked

-Operating slide: marked “U” in circle, Underwood

-Hammer: straight, marked “WU”, Universal Winding Co. for Underwood

-Trigger: marked “JU”, Underwood

-Sear: marked “.U.”, Underwood

-Magazine catch: marked “.U.”, Underwood

-Stock: walnut, low wood, marked “J” in sling well, either a Jewel Manufacturing GI replacement or Jamestown Lounge. Has small crossed cannons mark on right side, and “AAG” (Augusta Arsenal) on the left. Also marked “P” on pistol grip. Not M2 type. No cracks, very few dents/scratches, very attractive dark finish.

-Buttplate: unmarked with diagonal checkering.

-Recoil plate: marked “.U.”, Underwood.

-Handguard: walnut, two rivets, marked “M-U”, Marlin-Underwood. No cracks, very few dents/scratches, very attractive dark finish.

-Magazine: marked “U”, Underwood

-Sling and oiler: new repro



Sling, oiler and 15-round magazine are included.
