From the final few years of its production in New Haven comes this worthy specimen of Winchester’s model 70 Bolt Action Rifle. Manufacturer was Winchester Repeating Arms of New Haven, CT. Type is push feed bolt action rifle. Construction is steel barrel, bolt, trigger, and internal parts, with matte anodized alloy trigger guard and contoured black synthetic stock. Barrel is 24 inch, 1:10 six groove right hand twist. Magazine is internal ADL type; holds 4 rounds of .300 Winchester Short Magnum caliber ammunition, 4 + 1 capacity. Bolt is jeweled surface on its white portion, and with the Winchester 70 three position safety. Stock is molded black synthetic, with pebbled surfaces on its forend center and pistol grip area of its Buttstock. Length of pull from the serrated face of the steel trigger to the end of the 1 inch factory Buttstock is 13 1/4 inches. Trigger is on its original stiff but crisp 6 pounds, and the trigger is adjustable. Weight empty is 7 pounds, with center of gravity at the chamber mouth. This rifle comes to us from its original and exclusive owner from Northeast Mississippi. From its G2450000 range serial number, it was manufactured in 2003. Surface detrations are minimal, principally faint amounts of case contact wear on the muzzle and edges, and faint to moderate scouring on the sides of the Buttstock.
