Description: Belgian Model 1950 bolt-action rifle. Caliber .30-06 (7.62x63mm). Serial number 9138. Produced by Fabique Nationale de Guerre Herstal, better known as FN, in Belgium in 1951 as indicated by the receiver ring. The front of the receiver ring displays the Crown Cypher over “L” for Belgium King Leopold III (King of the Belgians 1) and “ ABL 1951” for Armee Belgique/Belge Leger (“Belgian Army” in French and Dutch, the two official languages of Belgium) markings. The left side of the receiver shows the legend “FAB. NAT. D’ARMES de GUERRE HERSTAL – BELGIQUE”. NO IMPORT MARKS. All matching (receiver, bolt, stock, there are no numbers stamped on any of the remaining parts, which is correct for this model). All serial numbers are factory original and were not re-stamped. Fixed front sight . Ramp and leaf rear sight calibrated from 100 to 1900 meters. Correct style, straight bolt handle. No cleaning rod. The metal retains approximately 85% of its original baked black enamel over phosphate finish and was never refurbished by Belgian arsenals. No rust or pitting. The rifle has a bright bore with strong rifling, and is in mechanically excellent condition with an action that is strong and smooth. The original walnut wood furniture is nice and solid with no cracks and shows the usual marks, dings, and minor scratches from years of handling and storage. Several smaller Belgian proof marks are present on the wood and metal and are clearly visible. A nice example of a scarce post-WWII production M1950 rifle in original .30-06 caliber with Belgian Army markings.

(Additional shipping charges to Alaska or Hawaii). 3-day inspection privilege (shipping costs and return transfer fee are not refundable). Not for sale where prohibited by law. It is the buyer’s responsibility to make sure he or she is in compliance with their State, County, and City laws. Any extra costs incurred because of compliance issues will be the buyer’s responsibility.

The FN Model 1950, chambered for the .30-06 (the U.S. was providing the Belgian Army with ammunition at the time) and using M1903 stripper clips (the front receiver bridge is notched in order to feed the .30-06 from stripper clips), was the last Mauser 98 rifle to be adopted by any major nation.
