Here is FN’s front runner, the FNS9 pistol. Type is striker fired semi automatic pistol. Chambering is 9mm Luger, 9mm Parabellum, 9x19, call it what you will, THE 9mm. Manufacturer is FNH USA, with production facilities in Columbia, South Carolina. Construction is stainless steel barrel and slide, with steel internal parts that include its full length guide rod, all housed in a high impact polymer frame. Barrel is 4 inch cold hammer forged, 1:9.84 right hand conventional six groove rifling with polished feed ramp. Slide is matte stainless, serrated fore and aft. Sights are dovetailed front and rear, 3 dot combat factory issue anodized alloy, drift adjustable for windage only. Trigger is .375 smooth faced two piece, 1/2 inch two stage 8 pound pull. Mechanism is striker fired, full time double action, with reset upon slide return. Safety system consists of trigger safety, internal drop and firing pin safety, with low profile manually operated ambidextrous lever safety. The FNS does Not have a magazine safety. Magazine release is fully ambidextrous. Magazines are serratted steel bodied smooth finish dark stainless steel with welded back sides, steel springs, and polymer floorplate and cartridge follower. Each magazine holds 17 rounds of 9mm caliber ammunition, so 17+1 fully loaded capacity, and each mag is ported for visible round count. Frame incorporates a 4 slot Mil-Standard M13 Picatinny rail for light or accessory. Safety lever, magazine release, and slide stop are all ambidextrous with no need for modification for left handed shooters. Disassembly is achieved with a slotted lever and dry fire disconnection. Grip frame comes with a total of two interchangeable mainspring housings or back straps, to adjust the grip circumference. Overall length is 7 1/4 inches from the barrel muzzle to the tail of the grip frame strut. Height is 5 1/2 inches from the top of the rear sight to the bottom of the magazine floorplate. Lateral frame thickness is 1.20 at the ejection port including the lever. Weight empty is 24.5 ounces, with center of gravity at the back top of trigger, or 33 ounces fully loaded with 180s and centered at the back of the magazine release. Each FNS9 comes in its original factory box with a total of 3 magazines, total of 2 backstrap panels, instruction manual, factory registration card, cable lock, and fired brass envelope. Replacement pricing on this pistol is over $600 in our area, and there aren’t any to be found around here.
