The original production run of the Colt Mustang Pocketlite extended only from 1986 until 1996. During that period, the only polymer framed Colt was the ill fated model 2000 chambered in 9mm. Here is a new combination of lightness, compactness, and accuracy from Colt, the Mustang XSP, full name Mustang Pocketlite Polymer. Type is single action only compact pistol, descendant of John M. Browning’s 1911. Safety system consists of ambidextrous safety levers that will engage with the hammer down, and with the hammer back, cocked and locked, as well as a firing pin safety. Construction is lightweight one piece polymer frame with matte blue steel slide, and with stainless barrel, slide stop, magazine release, and ambidextrous safety. Weight empty is only 12 1/2 ounces, with center of gravity at the magazine release. Barrel length is 2 3/4 inches; slide thickness .762 inches; grip frame thickness 1.05 at the logos; overall length 5 1/2 inches from the muzzle to the end of the grip frame strut; height 3 7/8 inches from the grip frame butt to the top of the anodized dovetailed black notch rear sight. Trigger is .232 black anodized serrated face. This Pocket Lite comes with a total of two stainless factory 6 shot magazines.
