Description:
Springfield Armory Model of 1922 MII, caliber .22lr, manufactured about 1925, serial number 2092B. No import marks.
This is the improved M1922 M1 as adopted in 1925, arsenal converted to MII configuration. This rifle was military issue, as the receiver and barrel are not drilled and tapped for scope mount. The second “I” in ‘MII” and “B” serial number suffix were added.
This rifle is in excellent used condition and retains its original finish. The blued barrel shows some wear on the top rear end from use. There is no pitting or rust on the metal.
Barrel is Springfield, dated 1925, with a bright bore and nice riflings. Very nice looking M2 stock. All parts are detailed below.
We test fired the rifle and it performed very well. See a video of our test firing at our website or on our YouTube channel, FernwoodArmoryTV.
Part Details:
-Receiver: app. 1925. Blued, excellent condition with no pitting, lettering very sharp. The bolt channel is bright. Receiver is marked "U.S. Springfield Armory Model of 1922 MII CAL. .22"
-Barrel: marked “SA 8-25”, with flaming bomb and proof punch mark. 4-groove rifling. Bore is bright, riflings and crown good. Finish shows some wear, but no damage.
-Front sight: Appears to be a Lyman 17 globe, may be so marked underneath. Square post insert installed, no extra inserts with the rifle. Insert sets are available from retailers. This sight requires no modification of the base, so a 1903 insert and blade can be easily installed if original configuration is desired.
-Rear sight: Lyman, appears to be a 48C. Looks complete, adjustment knobs click firmly.
-Bolt: bright, marked “NS M2” on top of handle, and “M2” on front bolt body. This is a type 2 M2 bolt with type 3 allen head headspace adjustment screws. Underside of bolt body is hand marked “1086” or “9801”, so it must have been switched from another rifle.
