Description: Greener .17 Mach IV Martini-Henry falling block action Rifle

Originally conceived back in 1907 as a .22 Miniature Club Rifle for indoor ranges, it has most likely had a sleeve inserted to protect and re-chamber the barrel. Now a wildcat round, the .17 Mach IV is made by necking down a .221 Fireball. While the round isn't readily available, it would be a fantastic heirloom project, and since there are dimensions for the bullet already it wouldn't be too difficult.

The name on the right side of the receiver "A.W. Benn" is period specific to an England-based philosopher who was in his mid 60's at the time this gun was produced. While I didn't receive confirmation from Greener that the gun was produced FOR Benn, the popularity of parlor guns at the time and the proliferation of indoor ranges leads me to believe this was his club gun, and thus was engraved to help him identify his rifle at the club.

A very unique gun and a truly one of a kind historical piece that crosses over from the gun world into late 19th century philosophy.
