Here is a fresh 2012 production, pristine specimen of the American Classic II series Filipino 1911 style pistol from Metro Arms Company in Manila. It is both a descendant of, and a competitor to, the Rock Island Pistols manufactured by Armcor that we have had such good experience with for the past two decades. This is a slicker made pistol with more features than the Rock Island. Importer is Bersa affiliate RSA of New Jersey. Finish is bright blue flats with matte blue vertical surfaces, following after the XSE series from the Colt. Sights are Novak style 3-dot combat. Hammer and trigger are Commander skeleton style with reinforced interior on the hammer and overtravel adjustment on the serrated trigger. Slide stop and Right Hand Shooter safety are both extended; and the pistol sports a Beavertail Grip Safety. Magazine is Italian ACT-Mag brand, made in Italy, all steel 8 shot. Grips are glossy finished, Metro logo, press-checkered Filipino domestic hardwood, much more attractive than the plain Jane APIs. This pistol is all steel construction, 5 inch barrel, polished chamber throat, and weighs 39 3/4 ounces empty. Named Model is American Classic II, Government Model. This specimen comes to us from its exclusive civilian owner in Florida, who traded it in for a smaller Smith & Wesson 9mm. Surface detractions are minimal; all we see is faint slide contact buffing on the chamber hood area of the barrel, and faint contact streaks on the side of the grip safety. We classify it as Near Mint in Box, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is excellent mechanically; bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. From our knowledge of its only owner, and from its superb condition, we estimate it has been fired fewer than 100 times. It is in its original box with instruction manual and fired brass envelope dated from May or 2012. Competitor Taurus PT1911 pistols command prices of $600 apiece or more in our area, and this pistol is every bit as good as a Taurus. Own this fine, well finished 1911 style .45 for only $ 429.00.
