Crescent butt plate; minor chip in stock wrist on left side by receiver; screws show tightening marks. We have not test fired this rifle, but it has been carefully examined by several reputable gunsmiths and given a 'clean bill of health' as far as mechanical operation -- it APPEARS to be functionable but neither we nor anyone else can guarantee that it is. Our assessment of its condition is 30%, which agrees with a competitor's appraisal, a copy of which will be included with sale. This unit is a nice example of a pre-1898 true American classic.
