Description:
Saginaw SG M1 carbine,.30 cal, serial number 32855xx. Receiver is mid World War 2 manufacture. Barrel is Marlin, with a bright bore and ME (muzzle erosion) measurement of zero. Stock and handguard are marked SG, with “AAO” rebuild mark on the stock. Other parts are from mixed manufacturers, all are detailed below and in photos.
It is in excellent working condition, and should be an exceptionally accurate carbine, with the new condition barrel that was probably installed at the time of its upgrade/rebuild.
The carbine has been disassembled, examined, cleaned and lubricated.

Part Details:
-Receiver: 1st block production, May 1943 – May 1944. Marked SAGINAW SG, and U.S. CARBINE CAL. 30 M1. Excellent condition, absolutely no pitting. Finish shows relatively little wear, some where the bolt rides in the channels. Marked “SG” on the left side.
-Barrel: Marlin, undated, short skirt, with firing proof “P”. Gas cylinder section marked “T” and with flaming bomb. The bore is bright like new, crown excellent. The barrel has the ribbed surface, absolutely no pitting, dark parkerized finish looks like new.
-Barrel ME: 0
-Front sight: marked “N”, Niedner Rifle Corp. for Inland and others
-Rear sight: adjustable stamped type, marked “J.A.O. 7160060”
-Bolt: flat, parkerized, marked SG.
-Firing pin: parkerized, marked “RI”
-Extractor: late type flat lip, marked “W”, Winchester
-Barrel band: bayonet lug type, marked “SI”, Inland, excellent condition
-Trigger housing: this is a mystery part, no markings. M2 configuration but no oil hole, does have bevels on rear lug and slotted magazine wall. Does not appear to be cast, has machining marks. An M1 type later made into M2 and markings removed? The housing is in great condition and it works.
-Safety: flip, circled “S”
-Operating slide: parkerized, excellent condition, marked PI, early Inland type
-Hammer: parkerized, straight, marked “WA”, Walt Manufacturing Co
-Trigger: marked :”F.I.”exc condition
-Sear: marked “XI”, Inland
-Magazine catch: 15-round type, marked “M WA”
-Stock: walnut, very good condition, I-cut high low wood. Marked “SG” with crossed cannons on the right side, “AAO” on the left side (Anniston Arsenal rebuild, we believe). Serif uncircled “P” inside pistol grip, small “J” under pistol grip. Many markings in sling cut include “RSG”, inverted. There is also a small flaming bomb, and several markings on top of each other, can’t really tell what they are (see photos). No cracks, very few dings/scratches, nice appearance.
-Handguard: walnut, two rivets, marked “RSG”. No cracks, very few dings/scratches, nice appearance.
-Buttplate: unmarked with square checkering
-Recoil plate: marked SG
-Magazine: 15 round, marked KSG
-Sling and oiler: repro
