Item: This is a genuine, new in box Sig Sauer® P938 extended 9mm magazine (7rd)with an extended basepad. It's only one extra round, but it adds a lot of comfort as well as safety. Some don't think they need a 3 finger grip in an emergency, but if you take it to the range you will thank us for two reasons, one of which DOES directly affect EMERGENCY use:
(a) It could make a significant difference in comfort/recoil at the range where you SHOULD take even a carry gun to break it in and determine your most effective brand of defense ammunition; and
(b) Many experts agree that one of the main reasons for 9mm ammunition to fail is a WEAK GRIP. As aptly explained by an unknown shooter: "Any self-loading firearm requires the frame to be more resistant to movement than the slide, bolt, or toggle in order to function reliably. As such, no semi-automatic handgun is completely immune to "limp-wristing." Also, in an emergency, shooting form generally is not a conscious decision.
While hopefully your training has been effective taking you right to an instinctive level (not likely for most non-professionals), it just seems obvious to us that you would naturally grab and use the entire grip. Hopefully, you will never have to test our theory, but the fact is that you are already carrying a gun or have one available for this potentiality. Why not take advantage of such reasonable means which also increases your general grip comfort?
From our experience, and common sense, having a third finger on a grip provides a more stable or resistant platform for shooting than a two finger grip for an obvious reason (recoil) plus it adds more of your palm to resist the backward forces stemming from the activation of the loading of the chamber and activation of the trigger (recoil). The recoil control would additionally assist in your ability to reacquire your target and accurately release the next shot. In fact, in view of the relatively small but important increase in the size of the magazine, we've put the 6rd mag back in the box. Who would have thunk it; the addition of a third finger might encourage young adults to become Olympians. What a reasonable price it is for such an opportunity!
