Not a Sporterized Military rifle, but a true factory Sporter made by Mauser for the commercial market. Millions of military 98 rifles produced, but less than 100,000 dedicated Sporters left the factory. 24" Barrel marked .30-06, with base for three-leaf folding express sight. Express sight removed to clear the way for a reciever mounted rear peep sight. Front sight is the standard checkered ramp with silver bead. Barrel left clean, w front sling swivel attached to stock and not the barrel. Bore in fair-poor condition - rebore or rebarrel at buyer discretion. Signature pear-shaped bolt handle. Overall finish VG-EXC. Metal surfaces polished to a superb gloss before being deeply blued. Butter-smooth action reflects the craftsmanship & attention to detail for which the Mauser Co. justly renowned. Remnants of stock in poor condition - only front half remains, much battered, after breaking at wrist. Shows classic slim forend terminating in Schnabel, narrow swivel, and fine checekering.
