In English it translates to "Corporation for Caseless Rifle Systems" and was a conglomeration of companies headed by Heckler and Koch for mechanical engineering / weapon design) and by Dynamit Nobel for propellant composition and projectile design. The ammunition itself is a caseless, in caliber 4.73×33mm with the propellant shaped into square blocks. Alternately the ammunition is sometimes referred to as 4.92 x 34mm due to different standards used in Europe and the U.S. Actual measurements yield 4.93mm for bullet diameter with an overall “case” length of 33mm.
