Construction is steel barrel, magazine tube, bolt, forend carriage assembly, trigger, and internal parts, with lightweight alloy receiver. Safety button, trigger group assembly, forend, and buttstock are all high impact polymer.Finish is black matte steel and black anodized alloy. Barrel is 18 1/2 inch heavy type, .965 outside diameter at the lug, with .15 wall thickness at the sawtooth six port Breacher® muzzle. No one should place any firearm with its muzzle against any surface. Sight is steel encased front. All 12 and 20 gauge Mossberg receivers are drilled for Weaver #88 or 417 size optics bases or Mossberg 96200 rails for any Picatinny type light or optical device. Chambering is 2 3/4 inch or 3 inch 12 gauge shells interchangeably, with a magazine capacity of 5+1 on 2 3/4 inch, and 4 + 1 on 3 inch. Forend is classic serrated corn cob type with removable tactical strap. Buttstock is Mathews® Damper Recoil Reduction type, reduces felt recoil. Cheek piece is removable and interchangeable; this 500 comes with the one that’s on it. Length of pull is 14 inches, standard 1.5 x 2.5 drop, and with a mild half inch right hand cant. Weight empty is 7 pounds 5 ounces, center of gravity at the magazine mouth. This 500 comes to us from Mossberg’s distribution system. We call it a factory demo. It served light duty, likely with a sales rep or writer. It has the letter U stamped near its serial number. Surface detractions are minimal, principally faint occasional operation and handling wear, really no more than one often sees on new display guns across the country. We rate it as Excellent, 90 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves.
