From President Kennedy’s Inaugural Year comes this very sweet, well preserved Winchester Model 12 Slide Action chambered in 20 gauge. The 20 gauge, of course, is a completely different frame than its 12 gauge sibling. Weight empty is only 6 1/4 pound, light weight by most standards, although this is a steel frame standard weight Model Twelve. Barrel is 28 inch Modified Choke plain beadsight, and both barrel and buttstock are full original length. Buttstock length of pull is 13 5/8 inches, including the recently added but period configured Pachmayr White Line pad. Surface detractions are only moderate; handling whitening on the sharp edges of the receiver and barrel juncture, and on the barrel’s chamber area. Note, however, the strong bluing remaining on the magazine and barrel proper. This shotgun has not seen much use in the field. Buttstock and forend have strong original finish with about 20 percent light scouring, little of which penetrates the glossy finish. We classify it as Very Good, about 80 percent finishwise; photos, however, should suffice for prospective owners to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. This shotgun comes to us from a retired Ohio Teamster, and its home domicile was in Northwest Ohio.
