Very good to excellent condition. All original blue, varnish and color case hardening with the original 22" Barrel and straight stock. The 1905 Savage Catalog called this a Model 1899-A "Saddle Gun". Bore is mirror bright and is in excellent condition with deep sharp rifling. Action is smooth and tight. Take down feature is smooth and dead tight too. This rifle is little fired. Butt stock has an excellent repair at the toe see pictures, it also has two sling swivel holes there. The fore arm has an incipient crack at the release button, it is only on the surface and does not go deep, see pictures. Serial is 217,xxx from 1920. Original Rocky Mountain blade front sight and original sporting rear sight are still there. This is a somewhat scarce model, especially with the take-down feature. .303 Savage is an original Model 1899 caliber and is similar to Winchester 30-30 but with more power and a heavier bullet. This is a scarce Savage variation! C&R License is fine on this gun in most states.
