I have a pre war Japanese Custom Arisaka Type 99 that was built here in the US some time ago for a fellow who loved these pre WW 11 actions. He said they were better than the Mausers. It has a 24" sporter barrel in 7mm Ackley improved with a recessed crown.It still has some of the Japanese markings except if it had a chrysanthemum it has been removed. The bolt handle is a blade type like the Mannlichers, it cocks on closing, and the safety is a Remington type. The trigger is about 2-3 pounds and brakes very smoothely. Finish on the metal is almost perfect. The stock is birds eye maple that is glass bedded with rose wood white line fore end, and grip cap. LOP is 14" with a 1" Uncle Mikes recoil pad.Wood finish is again almost perfect. On top sits a lighted reticle 6X24 FM side focus target turret scope in Weaver rings.
