From a local West Tennessee collection comes this very nice early Lee Enfield British Military Service Rifle. From its 1915 Date Stamp 3 – 94000 / renumbered K 3200 numbers, we hazard that it came into service during World War I; then was arsenal refinished for World War II, and even re-cartouched in 1947 on its buttstock. Metal finish is a very nice re-park that has left the letters crisp and sharp, and that has some patina mixed on the forward areas of the barrel and rear sight. Rear sight protective wings show etchy brown texture on their outside surfaces. All Metal and other wood appears original, from the armored front sight / lug assembly all the way to its brass butt plate. Stock detractions amount to moderate scouring and pecking on the walnut stock and upper covers. 10 Shot Magazine appears original issue. We classify this .303 as Very Good, Arsenal Refinish; but photos should suffice for interested parties to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore shows substantial etchy texture throughout, but no pronounced pits and the rifling is strong. Otherwise, chamber, and mechanism are bright, clean, and excellent. JJ Co NY NY is inconspicuous on the right rear side of the receiver, a John Jovino Import from the late 1980s. We sold many of these during the LBJ and Nixon Years for $20 to $25 apiece; but that was then, and this is now. The latest Lee Enfields to straggle in through the Import Channels have been Very Dogs, as we say. This is an eminently serviceable, attractive rifle.
