REMINGTON NO 1 ROLLING BLOCK LONG-RANGE CREEDMOOR TARGET RIFLE
This is an auction for a Beautiful REMINGTON NO 1 ROLLING BLOCK LONG-RANGE CREEDMOOR TARGET RIFLE, SN 5288. Cal. 44-77 Sharps. It has a 34" medium weight Part octagon to round barrel that has spirit level front sight, no provision for a rear sight & thick tang sight base containing a 5-1/2" vernier staff. The top flat of barrel has the Remington name. Bottom flat of the barrell, under the forearm is marked with the Serial Number. The left side of the receiver has the dates of the Remington Patents. It has a tapered unchecked forearm with steel schnable tip & shoulders at the rear end. The butt stock has a checkered pistol grip with triangle horn insert in the serpentine grip cap. The buttstock has a smooth steel Remington nickel plated pronged Schuetzen buttplate. The Serial Numbers, all matching, can be seen on the bottom tang, bottom flat of barrel, and inside the buttplate. Remington produced only a few hundred of these rare rifles, which were designed to be used in 1000 yard shooting matches, during the period 1 according to Flayderman's Guide to Antique American Firearms. The barrel has retained almost all of its original factory blue with a few minor nicks & scratches. Receiver, trigger guard, Hammer and Breech Block retains some moderately faded original case colors as seen in the photos. The condition of the wood is very good with no cracks but does have a few minor handling, storage nicks and scratches. The mechanics and barrel bore are excellent. This rifle was owned by William Tauscher, 88, of Port Allegany, PA, who died Saturday (March 26, 2011). He was a TEC 3 in the U.S. Army Signal Corps, serving during WWII from 1942 to 1946. Mr. Tauscher was considered an excellent gun smith for most of his life. He often loaned out this Remington Creedmore rifle for exhibits and the beautiful maple display cabinet that was used is included in this auctioon. A Brass plaque and a couple of rounds of 44-77 are mounted in the cabinet’s inside wall. If the winning bidder wants the display case he is responsible for finding and paying for the cost of shipping the case. The cost of shipping and insurance for the rifle is $95.00. No FFL license is required.

Every auction item is for sale online & locally. We will make every effort to pull an item after it receives a qualifying bid, i.e., bids not meeting reserve do not count.
Shipping Information: Handguns and Long guns are shipped USPS. All items are packaged with great care with no additional handling charges.
We offer a 3 day inspection on all firearms. Purchases must be returned in same condition as shipped, with no disassembly and be unfired. All shipping costs are at the expense of the buyer/bidder. Please check your local, county and state laws before bidding.
Payment options: Payment made using USPS Money Orders will ship as soon as payment and required paperwork arrives. Due to recent increased use of Counterfeit Cashier’s Checks, these payments will be held for bank clearance prior to shipping. Personal and business checks are also gladly accepted, however may delay shipping 2 weeks for bank clearance (We know the good checks clear faster, however, bank are sometimes slow in notification of a returned check).
