Description: HG5601 Here is the tried and true, accurate, simple and reliable Smith & Wesson .357 Military & Police Stainless, numbered Model 65, Fifth Engineering Change. The 3 inch heavy barrel 65 is by far one of the most sought after S&Ws ever, following their legendary blue steel Model 13 ancestors issued to the FBI for many years. It is well balanced, delivers effective energy with diminished felt recoil, and it is remarkably easy to hit with. This specimen of the 3 inch 65 comes to us from one of our local Middle Tennessee NRA Instructors’ personal collection. From its BDN Serial number prefix, it was manufactured in 1989. Type is traditional double and single action revolver with internal transfer bar safety device. Construction is stainless steel, K Frame with Round Butt Grip frame. Trigger is classic Satin Stainless .312 smooth faced combat style, with matching .265 serrated spur service width hammer. Capacity is 6 rounds of .357 Magnum or .38 Special standard or +P ammunition. Weight empty is 33.6 ounces, with center of gravity at the trigger. Grips are period correct Pachmayr Black Rubber. This revolver has undergone a professional bead blast refinish to satin stainless, and the gray tinted finish matches very well with the whiter trigger and hammer and glossy black Pachmayr SK/C Compac Professional Grips. Surface detractions are negligible, only very faint occasional edge buffing and no more than a half dozen tiny short scours on the edges of the frame, barrel rib, and trigger guard. We rate it as Excellent / Refinish. Photos, however, should suffice for interested parties to judge finish grade for themselves. This 65-5 is Excellent mechanically. Double action trigger pull is smooth and consistent, and the hammer travels 5 to 10 degrees after the cylinder times on all six positions in double action. On single action, the hammer travels an additional 25 degrees on all six after the cylinder times into place. Single action trigger pull is a crisp original 3 5/8 pounds. Lateral play to the cylinder is negligible, less than 1/2 mm total movement by our estimate, with the trigger relaxed; with the trigger fully depressed, there is no lateral movement whatsoever. Blast effect to the underside of the frame top strap directly above the barrel's forcing cone is negligible, only a light streak that traverses about half the width of the top strap, as the photos show. This revolver has not had very many Magnum rounds fired in it. Cylinder face to forcing cone gap measures a very tight .002, which helps explain the absence of any significant blast streaking to its top strap. This 23 year old service revolver has been well maintained and sparingly used during its career, and it is eminently serviceable for civilian or security use. We’re including a lined leather G&G Pancake Concealment holster from the North Carolina Department of Corrections. We’re offering this attractive 65-5 for only $ 589.00. Not transferable to civilian residents of California, District of Colombia, or Massachusetts. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> $10 lower 48; $30 Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico, USPS Priority Mail, insured with Delivery Confirmation. Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
