Bore is decent and Rifle is fully functional and in good mechanical condition. Metal is good considering its age and wartime usage.(markings indicate this rifle was in WWII combat service) All numbers are matching except for magazine. Serial number indicates an early war model. Everything appears original except for the front part of the stock which knowledgable appariser told us was sometimes cut back after the war for target competition. Due to this fact and the absense of an original scope, the value is reduced, thus reflecting the low selling price. If a good restoration expert could find a correct lower front walnut stock and correct scope, the value potential would be considerably enhanced for this very collectible piece. This rifle was with one owner for at least 35 years that we knew of. An old cloth bandolier having what looks like a few rounds of original 303 military ammo is included.
