This is a double action (DA) pistol in fine shooting condition. Shoots .38 Special , +P and .357 magnum cartridges. The 4" barrel is old style pinned and the cylinder is recessed (counterbored). Serial number S29xxxx. USA manufactured in 1967 and has original walnut checkered grips. The model 28-2 is the same revolver as the polished 27 but with a utility finish for daily law enforcement service, thus the name HIGHWAY PATROLMAN. Smith & Wesson built this .357 on their heavier .44 N-frame. The 28-2 is a "no frills" heavy duty revolver. Reliable, robust and uncomplicated, as simple as it gets. The .357 magnum is perfect for self defense with many choices for state-of-the-art cartridges. Condition: Cylinder has been replaced and cylinder/barrel gap is perfect. Light wear with slight use marks from age and has been holstered. Some finish blemish on right underside of barrel which is not very noticeable. A clean pistol, well maintained and in great shape. Tight action with clean bore. Timing/rotation and lock up very good, no issues at all. I have put about 30 rounds through this in 12 years.
