Description: From its long time residency among our neighbors in North Mississippi comes this very attractive Savage Fowling Piece. Manufacturer was Savage Arms Corporation of Westfield, Mass. U.S.A. and so marked. Model is Foremost Model 6870H, a premium grade shotgun marketed exclusively by Sears, Roebuck & Co. Type is single slide bar, pump or slide operated repeating shotgun. Letter M date code indicates 1961, third year of production, from a series that ran from 1958 until 1970. Construction is entirely steel metal, except for the alloy trigger housing, with American Walnut stock and forend. Barrel is 26 inches with *** Cylinder Bore marking, and whose bore diameter is .717 inch. Chambering is 12 gauge, 2 3/4 inch and 3 inch shells interchangeably. Its original 2 shot wood adapter or plug sounds to be still in its magazine tube; with the plug removed, capacity will be 4 + 1 on 2 3/4 inch shells, or 3 + 1 on 3 inch shells. Sight is two bead 10 Post .30 wide serrated Ventilated Rib, that sits .24 inch above the barrel proper at midsection. Receiver has serrations as well, up to the receiver curve. Safety is right hand shooter, behind the trigger. Trigger is .257 smooth faced steel, pulls at 4 pounds with moderate felt creep and overtravel. Stock drop is 1 1/2 x 2 1/2 inch with a mild 3/4 inch right hand cast, with a 14 inch length of pull from the trigger face to the end of the factory recoil pad. Overall length is 45 5/8 inches. Weight empty is 7 1/2 pounds, with center of gravity at the chamber mouth. Finish is polished surface blue, with ablack anodized trigger guard, gold plated trigger and safety, and white steel shell carrier. Walnut is semi gloss oil finish with pressed checkering. Surface detractions on this 6870 are moderate, pringipally edge wear, operation graying on the magazine tube, and patina to the carrier. We rate this 6870 as Very Good, 80 to 85 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright and clean. We estimate this shotgun was fired fewer than 500 times in its career, with a fair number of pigeon load bird shot for quail and a few magnum buckshot for deer, legal in Mississippi. Replacement pricing on Walnut Stocked, 3” Pump guns is in the $900 range on browning com or remington com. We’re offering the 1961 Savage Foremost 6870H in the photos, however, for half those prices. Own it for only $ 339.00. Definitely C&R Eligible. Any ammunition or personnel in photos are Not included.
