Already have an account? Login Contact Seller Description: Smith & Wesson Registered Magnum 6” bbl serial # 48640 registration number 1312 with an excellent bore. This “N” frame 5 screw revolver retains approximately 98% finish showing only some light holster wear at the muzzle, a light turn ring, a couple of light scratches on the right side of the barrel beyond the extractor rod and several very light scratches on both sides of the frame between the trigger guard and the grips. A letter from Roy Jinks dated June 2016 tates that this firearm was shipped from S&W on August 19, 1936 and sold to Post Exchange France Field, Canal Zone, Attn: Lient. Robin B. Spler. The records indicate this revolver was shipped with a 6” bbl., a 3/32 King Luminous red bead front sigh, a white outline square notch rear sight to match, blue finish, and checkered walnut Magna grips. This revolver was sighted on at 50 Yards with S&W 38 Special ammunition using a 6 o’clock hold. This shipment was for a single unit and was billed at $44.38 including shipment. (Cost of thes pistols was $60.00 but a 20% discount was give to the military and law enforcement. This means the shipping was $2.38.) A request to the Smith & Wesson Historical Foundation for additional information was sent to them for requesting further information. Unfortunately nothing else was found. Documentation for the above is included with this purchase. An additional document also included states that on November 6, 1940 a Michael Kozak sold this firearm to winton Edward Hancock. The paper appears to have a military watermark. On the back of this receipt is another receipt dated October 1971 stating Robert Wallace “Gun License # 8 purchased this firearm from Mrs. Frances Hancock (no amount listed). A really neat Registered Magnum with considerable documentation that will make this the center of any S&W collection.
