Selling this rifle for my good friend whose father gifted it to her many years ago.
This particular rifle is a 100% original and correct World War II 1903A3 rifle made by the
Smith Corona company in 1944 (serial number 4830090) and reportedly has NEVER been
FIRED; given the condition of the uncleaned bore, that claim appears to be true. The furniture
is in excellent condition exhibiting only minor scratches and dings and the blued and parkerized
finishes are all very attractive showing almost no signs of wear or finish loss. The bolt has a
really nice original blue finish, as do the stock bands, and the action is nice and smooth locking
into the battery perfectly. The six groove barrel (SC dated 2 42) looks like new and there is no
pitting or erosion visible. The original "FJA" and US ordnance wheel inspection and acceptance
cartouches are all clearly visible as are inspection stamps and the circle "P" proof. The original
steel butt plate is intact and the trap door is in excellent working condition. All of the controls
and functions on this '03A3 appear to be in perfect working order.
