Robert Frielich - "The Wizard", was a NY City, Cop Shop gunsmith and engineer from the 1940s through the 70s. He operated a gun store in the 13 Precinct of Manhattan across from the NYPD 13th precinct, where he worked for nearly forty years.
Known for his custom revolver work for NY City Cops and his friends, Frielich was a Master revolver smith, garnering him the nickname "The Wizard".
Description:
The mid-century nickel finish, remains near perfect, shows a single 3mm flake at the muzzle. The barrel and side plate are signed with Frielich mark.
The bore and cylinders are bright, the cylinder shows a faint turn-line.
The rust blue rib has begun to lightly fade, though the Cabochon fire blue screws remain brightly iridescent, situated just below the surface of the rib.
The hammer's gold plate has very slight surface oxidation between the checkering.
There is no damage to the steel and the piece remains mechanically perfect and in excellent condition throughout.
This rare Colt is an exceptionally fine example of Frielich's custom pre-Python design.
