Fox, sn27202, Year 1921, 12GA, 7lbs.8oz., Chokes LM/IM, LOP 14 1/2"
The C Grade Fox is considered one of the most handsome of the A.H. Fox Graded guns, with its finely cut English scroll, game scene engraving, nicely engraved trigger guard, and European walnut figured well on both sides of the stock. Many guns offered for sale today lack information on which to base a decision. A shotgunner should want to know specifics…stock dimensions, choke constrictions, minimum wall thicknesses, weight, balance point, trigger pulls…in addition to viewing photos. In most ads the photos show no real details of the gun. Don’t you want to know what you are buying? A lot of bad things happen to vintage guns over time, and most offered for sale at low prices have poor stock dimensions (making them impossible to shoot well for most shooters) amateur repairs, poor restorations, and even cut barrels and stocks. Making wise decisions requires adequate information. This fine Fox CE Grade, sn27202 made in 1921 (the era of the best Fox engraving), is a fine example of the Fox CE Grade WITH THE FOX/KAUTZKY SINGLE SELECTIVE TRIGGER, A FEATURE RARELY ENCOUNTERED and very desirable. Retaining all factory finishes on the barrels, action, and trigger guard, the gun retains a lot of condition, with 65% case color on the action, crisp sharp engraving, 95% barrel blue, and 40% charcoal blue on the trigger guard. The 30” No. 3 weight barrels have excellent bores, tight ribs, factory bore diameter, lots of wall thickness (see specs in tables below), are tight as new on the hinge pin and breech face and are choked LM/IM, excellent chokes for field and clays. This gun is mechanically excellent in all ways. THIS IS A “VFI CERTIFIED GUN”, meaning we stripped the forend iron and receiver to the smallest parts, ran it through the Ultrasonic cleaner, inspected all parts for integrity and function, then lubricated and reassembled (a $375 service). VFI CERTIFIED guns carry a 90-day mechanical warranty. We have lengthened the chambers to 2 ¾” and extended the taper of the forcing cones from 5/8” to 1 ½” taper making the gun shoot softer and have better patterns with today’s readily available modern loads, as short shells are near impossible to find now (a $360 service). Weighing 7 ½ pounds and balance 1/16” ahead of the hinge pin, the gun is lively in hand. YOU CANNOT COMPARE THIS FOX TO OTHER FOX GUNS THAT HAVE BEEN NEGLECTED FOR DECADES. NO MORE MONEY NEEDS TO BE SPENT. THE GUN IS SUPERB IN ALL WAYS. This gun left the factory with 3 ¼” of drop and somewhere along the way the butt stock was professionally replaced, now having good, modern shooting dimensions. Don’t miss out on this opportunity and thanks for looking at our guns!
