Background Checks Fail to Stop Thieves from Crashing Stolen Car into Gun Store

I just wanted to point out the obvious here, which is that despite the overhaul of Connecticut’s gun laws in the wake of the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, criminals will still find ways to obtain firearms.

So, basically, by enacting laws that banned the sale of 10-plus round magazines, expanded the ban on black rifles and required background checks on all private transfers Connecticut politicians did nothing but curtail the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens.

From NBC Connecticut:

People crashed a stolen car into a gun store in Woodbridge early Wednesday morning and stole several guns, according to police.

Police responded to the Woodbridge Firearms Trading Post on Selden Street just after 3 a.m. when an alarm went off and found an empty car inside the store.

As they investigated, they learned the car had been stolen and now believe several people were involved in the burglary.

New Haven Police are assisting Woodbridge Police in the search for the driver and any passengers. A police K-9 is also being used in the search.

Police are also investigating whether this burglar is connected to a car fire on the Ansonia-Seymour line minutes before the burglay.
