FBI Agents Under Investigation for Lying about Oregon Occupier Shooting

Send to Kindle

An FBI hostage rescue team is being investigated by the Department of Justice for lying about, allegedly, or failing to disclose two shots fired at Robert “LaVoy” Finicum during the fatal shootout that led to Finicum’s death.

According to a statement by FBI Special Agent in Charge Greg Bretzing, the shots were fired “as Mr. Finicum was exiting the vehicle after hitting the snow bank.” This has been confirmed by a slow-motion video published by the Oregonian. Two shots can clearly be heard, one of which strikes the vehicle’s window.

The investigation conducted by the Tri-County Major Incident Team concluded that three separate series of shots were fired during the incident: the first as Finicum’s vehicle drove towards the barricade, the second upon the vehicle’s crashing into the ditch, and the third as Finicum reached for his handgun.

The investigation concluded that the first and third series of shots were justifiable. The second, as it involved members of the FBI, is being investigated by the Department of Justice’s Office of the Inspector General.

Bretzing said in his statement that “autopsy results confirm, neither of these shots struck Mr. Finicum” but “the question of who fired these shots has not been resolved.”

Deschutes County Sheriff L. Shane Nelson, whose team investigated Finicum’s death, said, “Of particular concern to all of us is that the FBI [hostage rescue team] operators did not disclose their shots to our investigators, nor did they disclose specific actions they took after the shooting.”

Oregon investigators were initially puzzled by a bullet hole found in the room of Finicum’s truck (as seen in the video). Upon further investigation, they determined the shots were fired by FBI agents. Oregon officials disclosed their findings to the U.S. attorney in Oregon, who notified Bretzing, who called the Department of Justice.

According to coverage in the LA Times, an agent from the inspector general’s office arrived in Bend, Oregon, approximately one month ago on Feb. 20. The Office of the Inspector General confirmed that the FBI’s hostage rescue team was under investigation, but declined to provide details.

Neither the FBI nor Oregon state officials are disclosing if the shots under investigation change the justifiability of the fatal rounds that killed Finicum. As the video clearly shows, two rounds were fired as Finicum stepped out of the vehicle but before he allegedly reached for his gun. If those shots had not been fired, Finicum may not have felt the need to unholster his firearm.

Is this Ruby Ridge all over again, the FBI is suppose to help the American people but it seems they are self served. Lets now see what happens with the Hillary Clinton investigation into her private e-mail server. This will tell the story about our FBI and our Attorney General and Obama. Get ready for more lies.

  • wildbill55 March 27, 2016, 10:54 pm

The FBI hostage rescue team is nothing more than hired killers for the federal govement. When one of there best shots shoots an unarmed woman at just over 100 yrds holding a baby girl at ruby ridge kinda puts a different light on things.I hope someday people wake up and realize the FEDS have there own agenda and average americans are not a priority.

  • Walter davis March 27, 2016, 8:45 am

Since the FBI and blm can’t figure out what happened or why….. Origon should suspend their operations and ask them to leave until they can figure it out and g8ve the names of the shooters.

The last thing anyone wants is the patriots movement walking around brandishing weapons chanting ” hands up , don’t shoot” !

  • j w March 27, 2016, 1:44 am

they lied about the shots because u can clearly see at ~:40-:48 the sparks at the top of the screen are caused as the bullet passed through the roof. u can see at ~;15 the bullet hole in the roof. his vehicle was stopped at a slight angle compared to the road kinda offset with the rear towards the right. the bullet ripped a hole in the roof, length-wise along the trajectory path as it was likely fired from not much of a height above the top of the vehicle. that means that particular shot was likely fired from somewhere along the treeline, slightly behind the truck. this would indicate a premeditated deployment of snipers along the roadblock. that is probably what they are trying to cover up cause if the sniper took the shot through the roof, that means he didnt have a clear line of sight and that is a no no no no no in law enforcement and it could also imply that it was a straight up hit. the establishment does not want people to talk about the BLM or their illegal acts to consolidate and sell land rights to china. theres something you have to understand… america is in major debt and china owns almost all of it and china doesnt want money repayments, they want the US territory and we dont straighten up and get our heads out of our asses, theyll own it and well be mowed under or made to work in their slave factories. hell, u see how they treat their own people, id imagine we wouldnt stand a chance. so for the love of everything, keep ur goddamn guns, learn to do a real-world craft, and get ready to fight for ur lives, cause the shits coming whether u know about it, care about it, or are indifferent. when boots are stomping on ur neck, i guarantee ull wake the fuck up and wish u could come back to this moment…

I’m sure the FBI agents acted correctly. It’s not like they’ve ever gone overboard before this incident, right? OK, well maybe at Ruby Ridge… Or Waco… Or the Bundy Ranch in Nevada….Or….

  • Kevin Walker March 26, 2016, 4:17 pm

How many hostages has the “FBI Hostage Rescue Team” ever saved? Perhaps they should just change their name to “CKT” – Citizen Kill Team.

I don’t know how the republic would have survived without the actions of all law enforcement personnel at this incident/protest. They should be proud of their actions protecting an unoccupied federal building. They are my heros.

Yup, this guy clearly wanted to commit “Suicide by Cop” and he was given that chance.

  • Cedric T March 26, 2016, 7:38 am

You can clearly hear the guy saying “go ahead, shoot me”, in the video. So, they did. Where’s the problem? Maybe the next bunch won’t go trespass on property, wielding rifles, giving the fear mongors another excuse to push for a ban on firearms.

  • 2B or not 2B 2A March 26, 2016, 6:14 am

Every news agency has forgotten about this. Maybe the OR local news keeps tabs but mainstream media has brushed this under the rug. Sad times we live in. It seems everone pleads “not guilty” to everything in hopes a lengthy court preceeding, facts will eventualy be forgotten or “lost”.

    NO YOU IDIOT-!
He was .reaching” for the bullethole in his side= NOT A HANDGUN…..lying mercinary cowards.!
Just how many rioting looters throwing bricks at LEO’s in Ferguson+Baltimore were shot ~?

    • Eric May 27, 2016, 2:25 pm

Lavoy was unarmed at the time of his execution. He had left his guns with the guy who rode around with the flag every morning at the refuge ! A right handed man would not carry a pistol in his left pocket . Lavoy didn’t carry a 9mm . They planted the gun.and what they call reaching for his gun is merely reaching where they shot him at as a reflex….!

  • ELIAS V. March 25, 2016, 10:02 pm

HE WAS MURDERED BY THE FBI AGENTS HIRED BY THE POWERS THAT BE IN THIS COMMUNIST MUSLIM ADMINISTRATION. EVERYTHING ELSE FALLS SHORT OF THE TRUTH – PERIOD!

    • Matt March 26, 2016, 5:50 pm

That’s utter nonsense. He said “go ahead and shoot me” before any shots were fired. He also stated multiple times that he wouldn’t be taken alive.

A roadblock for what exactly- the “dangerous” non-threatrning protesters including girls~???????????

      • Matt March 26, 2016, 5:53 pm

These were in fact not “non-threatrning protesters including girls~???????????”, they were terrorists that had taken over a federal installation and had stated they would shoot at any federal law enforcement that came to that installation. Stop lying.

  • alex March 25, 2016, 11:51 am

this man was murdered plain and simple,if we as a people stuck together and called their bluff,we could run them all out of office!!they keep us fighting, black against white, women’s rights and so on,divide and conquer ,it’s been done for thousands of years and we keep falling for it.

    • Matt March 26, 2016, 5:54 pm

How many people say they won’t be taken alive, then try and run a roadblock, then tell the agents to “go ahead and shoot me” and are considered murder victims?

  • Eric Stevenson March 25, 2016, 11:42 am

Holly crap, most of you are just conspiracy theory nut jobs if you think this wasn’t what Roy wanted. He has said on multiple occasions that he wasn’t going to prison and that he intended to go down shooting and that is exactly what he got. When I read these posts I see a lot of people’s comments that suggest that law enforcement officers get up with the intent of shooting someone today. Your ignorant and wrong, these people put their lives on the live everyday for people like us and when they are in a situation and they are confronted with a person that has threatened to use violence than they are a little more on edge than usual as would any of us be. These people have families they want to go home to after work just like many of us and I don’t fault most of them of what happens in that line of work. Hell, I offered to go chase those freeloading retards out myself if the government wasn’t willing to do it. This is also my country and Oregon is MY state and we have enough freeloading losers here already. These people were not patriots expressing their rights, they were criminals violating the law on national television and taunting law enforcement to make the situation worst to rally support for their cause. All of you morons who think Roy was murdered grow up, he committed suicide by cop for a bad cause.

    • John Doe March 25, 2016, 2:11 pm

First off, you can’t possibly speak for all of law enforcement. We’ve seen many times where you’re dead wrong. There are bad cops as well as bad citizens. But I am on your side when it comes to the people that think all law enforcement and government are out to get us. BUT, you can’t tell me that some of these officers weren’t itching to pull the trigger on these guys. You can’t tell me that they weren’t ready to get it over with. Lavoy swerved away from the barricade and even further off the road when the officer jumped out in front of his truck. I think all of the first shots were premature. There were unarmed women in that truck and they were all being fired upon because Lavoy refused to stop. He could have rammed the barricade, but did not. It looked like to me and most who saw that video that he was just trying to go around which does not justify them firing.

      • Leung March 25, 2016, 3:25 pm

In the military we learn if we are willing to die for each other, there is a large chance we are willing to lie for each other. This is specially for tight knit units that do very special missions. Chances are very high cops and LEO have the same mentality. They all want to go home alive, which means they can make the wrong split second decision. Problem is their colleagues are hesitant to turn them in because they know the same career ending act could happen to them. Thus the code of silence. Jesse Ventura said it the best about organizations that do kill or be kill occupation like military and police – “they are taught to die for each other, thus lying for each other is not hard to do.”

    • randy may March 25, 2016, 9:01 pm

Eric, I am one of your morons. I am a combat wounded veteran with 260 hours of LE training. I have a near genius IQ and objective deductive reasoning skills tempered with 67 years of experience. You obviously have not researched the details of any of this. The “freeloading retards” were highly respected, rancher’businessmen, family men, deacons in their church, and American patriots of the first order. LaVoy in no way committed suicide by cop. For starters, he had no weapon. LE planted a 9mm glock stolen 2 years before. Last time I looked, taunting did not justify lethal force. If you looked at the enhanced video and survivor phone video, along with eyewitness testimony there is no doubt it was cold blooded murder. To your point, it was obvious that the OSP were scared to death and that kind of adrenaline rush leads to poor judgment. However, they were already hyped up by the FBI, and used as useful idiots, so the FBI could deny responsibility. The “bad” cause, was an attempt to expose the unconstitutional land grab and harassment of American citizens by the BLM on behalf of corrupt politicians all the way to the POTUS. The Hammonds , like the Bundy ranch, was about uranium and promising these ranches to Russia and China. Involving Obama, Hillary, Harry Reid, and John McCain. You don’t find it strange that protesters involved with occupy wallstreet, Wisconsin capital, Ferguson, Baltimore, and others, did millions of dollars in destruction, as well as committed crimes like rape, assault, breaking and entering, and more, yet, none of these were arrested or murdered by a paramilitary national police force. But, 10 guys and a couple of women, in an empty building 30 miles from anywhere, posing no threat to anyone, requires 38 agencies working with the FBI and 100 paramilitary special ops to set up a kill zone blockade to take out 2 carloads of unarmed protesters in route to meet with a constitutional sheriff in the next county? The governor was an appointed democrat told to expedite the outcome by Obama and authorize lethal force. The sheriff was appointed, not elected, and was a ranger for the BLM til being appointed to finish the term of the elected sheriff who was given a good deal to retire with 2 years left on his term. The army of federal law enforcement, gestapo, violated posse comitatus as it assaulted the town of Burns. The FACTS just go on and on supporting the theory that this was nothing more than a professional hit utilizing the useful idiots in state and local law enforcement that thought they were doing there job.

      • Matt March 26, 2016, 5:58 pm

Most of what you have asserted as “fact” is nothing but unproven conspiracy hyperbole. There is no proof of anything you’ve claimed. This terrorist said multiple times he wouldn’t be taken alive.

        • Shooter22 April 3, 2016, 10:02 pm

Matt, you are one dumb shit, or devious.
Proof? watch the videos and realize the fact that this was set up as a “kill stop” by the HRTs. The proof is your eyes and what’s between your ears, for now, (in your case, not much, I’m afraid).

      • Richard Batten March 27, 2016, 5:46 pm

Randy May thank you for putting the facts out on the table for all to see. This country has too many ready to accept whatever the gov-ment tells them, whatever lies the 6 o’clock news spews out. This nation best wake up before the bankers put us all out the door.

  • Sonn March 25, 2016, 11:31 am

The Feds know that if they wait until things calm down another wrongful death will just disappear when the next big story hits. Even when the feds are caught red handed there is no accountability. There was no reason for Mr Finnicum to die.

  • jim March 25, 2016, 10:21 am

Roy was dead the minute they left for the meeting.

    • mtman2 March 26, 2016, 5:17 am

      Exactly right…
Once you see his gripping commonsense personal-plea video from his ranch on his kness, one can see that this guy was not going away and could really “dent” the lying wall of protection the illegal un-elected employees of all these un-Constitutional agencies use to remain the parasites they are to the various states and stolen tax monies to fund them.

Fed agencies have become habituated feral *’fed bears’* and have become dangerous, moreover they together are now marauding lawless pack-animals, thinking they answer not to “WE the People. but their socialist/statist One World masters who instruct+feed them on OUR stolen dime. Worse on borrowed money’s OUR childrens children will be billed for.
They must be positionally nixed and it all must be properly Constitutionally addressed.
Whether any like it or not- IT IS OUT OF CONTROL- until brought under control by those that should be responsible ~!

  • Rodney A Barnett March 25, 2016, 5:08 am

Why would anyone be surprised about this, it has gone on a long time. There is nothing more dangerous than our own FBI and ATF especially when they get bored. American’s forget to easily, out of sight, out of mind. Never forget Ruby Ridge and Waco, research the truth.

  • Mark March 25, 2016, 4:50 am

It appeared to me from previous photos that Finicum was right handed as he was shown carrying his gun on his right leg. When he “reached for his gun” he was probably grabbing his side where he’d been shot since he was reaching to his left with his right hand. And knowing that he was going to be arrested he probably left his gun in the truck. I seriously doubt that he was armed at all. But we’ll never know because they’ll bury that too under the previously mentioned guise of “he was reaching for his gun”.

  • Michael Hunt March 25, 2016, 3:33 am

The whole story is a diversion,
Finicum was a stage actor, the event was staged,
gunners know you cannot shoot someone in the face and multiple times
with high powered rifles and not bleed ON THE SNOW,
most of the main characters were FBI provocaturs,
the girls in the car magically survived unscathed after being supposedly
    riddled with bullets,
you gunners are smarter than this story,
the purpose of reports like this is to deflect attention from the fact
that the whole thing was a staged event, and mislead the public down
another rabbit whole of much lesser consequence

    • Matt March 26, 2016, 6:00 pm

“the girls in the car magically survived unscathed after being supposedly
      riddled with bullets,”

What are you even talking about? Who ever said this happened?

  • Dustin Eward March 25, 2016, 3:32 am

Hands up, shoot at him anyways. If corrupt government thugs are shooting at you in spite of following their orders (because we are their slaves), I’d probably reach for my gun, too.

Knowing that its futile to do that in a disadvantaged position, make sure you grab your gun and shoot them first. They have made it clear through repeated incidents that murdering people and coveting it up is SOP. Don’t give them the chance. They are traitors. After the first one, the rest are free.

  • mrw March 25, 2016, 3:31 am

I’ve been in LE for 23 years after serving 7 in USMC. These FBI guys are so arrogant. I don’t trust any of them. I will not have any conversation with any of them. Couple of them I served with in my Recon unit in the military and these agents have no respect for citizens. I’ve hung two of them for lying in a local murder they caused. I always wore a very discrete camera of my own after injustice occurring in front of me. It really didn’t do much good except suspending them from field duty. They squashed media coverage. Got my life threatened. I still stand up to these pricks. They excuted that man like I’ve witnessed before. Folks don’t trust any federal LEO in this country .

    • MJ Turok March 25, 2016, 11:15 am

    • mtman2 March 26, 2016, 5:37 am

Like *Sheriff Mack*- WE need more of you to *out* the feral “fed bears” and their boldly lawless habituated behavior.
Write a book and get your story out there for eyes to see! Good cops are a blessing- rouge agencies are a cancerous cabal in any land. The spolight of truth will effect change if enough go public.
IF you could verify threats to your life to be publicly that alone speaks volumes as well as prisontime for the hyena”s behind it= LEO”s are also “WE the People” and WE stand together or eventually WE will be rounded up as history always repeats itself for those without ears to hear and eyes to see ~!

  • Will Drider March 18, 2016, 8:36 pm

LE rushed to get the videos out in public view in order to quell all issues about the Stop and LE shooting (not a gun battle as only LE fired: justified or not). As most people know, their has been a lot of heat on LE shootings. Here we see cell phone vid once again in contrast to the declared facts. It should surprise no one that the unreported shots came from the Feds and that they were directed at a man with his hands up. The Feds are lucky these shots missed but they will never have creditability when trying to get a peacefull surrender again. This only reinforces what we know about Ruby Ridge. The second they decided to omit reporting they fired, the cover up began. Then they lied to Local LE, cleaned guns, replaced expended rounds, lied in their Debriefing, falsified their Official Statements and the
Incident Report. All individual acts of perjury by each Agent. Its actually been over a week since this “omission” was discovered. What can We the People expect from our Government on this? A. Its a training issue (but aren’t these guys the top notch, high speed-low drag tactical best of the best, shit hits the fan Team? B. Slap on the wrist. Time limited Letter of No-No in their files or no Field duty for 12 months. They won’t release names for a year and the Final report will come out on a News busy weekend so no one notices it. Wait and see, I WILL.
