Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Tuesday morning in northwest Albuquerque.
Deputies responded to a call around 3:45 a.m. from a homeowner reporting they had shot someone attempting to break into their home on Lost Horizon NW, reports KRQE.
Upon arrival, deputies found an unidentified woman with gunshot wounds.
BCSO spokesperson Jayme Gonzales toldThe Albuquerque Journal that deputies performed lifesaving measures before transporting the woman to a hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
BCSO’s violent crimes and homicide detectives have taken over the investigation. Officials will release additional information as it becomes available.
