Meet FN’s New California-Compliant Rifles

Authors Industry News S.H. Blannelberry

FN America announced the release Monday of two new California-compliant rifles, the FN 15 Tactical Carbine II CA and the FN 15 DMR II CA.

Both sport the Hera CQR “featureless” stock (a holeless pistol grip) and a 10round Magpul PMAG to comport with California’s gun laws.

“Many of California’s pro-gun residents have had very limited options in terms of what they could purchase because of the state-imposed regulations on firearms,” said John Keppeler, vice president of sales and marketing for FN America, LLC, in a press release.

“FN saw California’s market as an opportunity to expand the FN 15 line,” Keppeler continued. “This addition will finally offer a quality-built FN rifle to gun buyers who have limited compliant options. We hope to earn a few new FN fans along the way and further expand our compliant series to other heavily restricted states.”

The FN 15 Tactical Carbine II CA is now shipping to distributors with an MSRP of $1,799.  The FN DMR II CA will follow suit in the next couple of weeks with an MSRP of $2,099.

Support the 2nd Amendment Guarantee Act and there will be no need for all this.

  • Russ H. August 4, 2017, 5:21 pm

    Well, better than nothing.

  • Mike Watkins August 4, 2017, 3:40 pm

I’ve got mixed feelings about this. One part of me says hurray for gun manufacturers who are creative enough to make the law-beating firearms CA residents can own.

The other part of me says CA residents have been stupid enough for years to allow their freedoms to be taken, so screw ’em!

Guess the compromise is that gun makers should jack prices up and make Californians pay thru the nose. So FN should be getting these rifles up to 3 grand MSRP.

Sorry, CA residents, but I really don’t have a lot of sympathy for you.

    • Z August 4, 2017, 6:34 pm

Who asked you to feel sorry for anything? The article is about a company making rifles compliant with current state laws in the hopes of earning a profit from their sales. You act as though the Ruger Mini-14 or the Ares Defense SCR-2 don’t exist. They aren’t selling life saving medications at exorbitant costs to people with no other means of sustaining life. It’s not price gouging water in the Sahara desert, it’s an ugly stock on an expensive AR. Hopefully you will be in some sort of minority in the future and someone like yourself will lecture you about how you should be punished for finding yourself in the minority and how unsympathetic they are to your circumstances.
That being said, I appreciate the willingness of firearms manufacturers
to seek ways around this states ridiculous gun laws in search of higher profit margins and I hope the Second Ammendment Protection Act makes it thorough Congress and the Senate.

EXCUSE ME, Not all of us in California support or agree with any of the restrictive gun control laws here.
In fact, the majority of these laws are not voted on by the people but signed into law by the libbertard’s running this state. Other states on the east coast are right behind California by using the media to lie about the reality of gun control laws and the lack of effect on violent crime. I hope your state remains free, but that could change.

Moving to California to solve problems there seem to be a far stretch from reality. California is what it is because of the people who the state’ citizens put into office and supported them. California can be whatever the people there want it to be. The real problem with CA laws is that many of the people there think that everyone else must be as they wish. If you care so much for CA, then take action there (you live there). I live in Missouri where we are concerned about our state. And our ELECTED people have done very well for us…i.e. Castle Doctrine, Emergency Powers Act, Concealed Care, Stand Your Ground, Acceptance of SPORTING RIFLES and etc. As long as you elected people like Barbara Boxer and Diane Fienstien (who publicly made the comment “We’re going to get the guns, ALL OF THEM,” then your second amendment right will continue to decline. By the way, I like CA, but the size of the economy here or there, or coastal or as you put it “fly over state” has no bearing upon the application of second amendment rights. I don’t think you will find many people who purchase CA fruits and products here in the Mid West being referred to a “fly over state.” Many years ago, on The Letterman Show, I heard the expression of what Fly over state was supposed to mean by one of your actresses……….She explained….If you start at the coast in a coastal state, the further you went into the middle of the country, the more stupid people who live there are. …. It is apparent that if you choose to live in CA, then you must comply with the laws enacted by those who you have elected. But is live in MO and DO NOT.. I must comply with the laws enacted by the people we elect. You live there, take action there yourself. Not my monkey, not my circus.

      1.) I didn’t invite you and I don’t care where you live.
2.) Living in CA doesn’t mean that I voted for a democratic candidate.
3.) An actor or actress can be a resident of any state, Earning a living in that profession doesn’t make them “mine”.
      4) My comments about the size of California’s economy and its impact on the overall US economy are exactly that, comments about the impact of the loss of tax revenue that would result from California becoming a sovereign nation. I didn’t couple it with second amendment rights.
5.) Work on your reading comprehension.

The Nut running North Korea has missals that can reach California but will never nuke that state because he feels he would be doing America a favor if he did.

missiles not missals. Spell check is your friend. Learn it. Love it. Live it.

I’m more worried about the nut-puppet supposedly running the US, trying to start a war anywhere he can, coming from a lonnnng line of puppets who take their orders from somewhere deep – and Israel.

Un is simply not going to allow the ‘spread of democracy’ as he’s watched the US/Israel ‘Axis of Evil’ destroy every country they’ve illegally invaded in the M/E, in the preposterous lie of the ‘war on terror- – which shills like Clay Martin NEVER FAIL TO MENTION in their articles, trying to reinforce the lie.

      At GREAT cost to humanity.

By the way? What do Syria, N Korea, Iran, and Russia have in common?

My, oh my. They don’t have a Rothschild Central Bank, bleeding their economies.

Just love human ingenuity when it comes to circumnavigating stupid rules and laws. Reminds of the time when Ohio first began insisting on the wearing of blaze orange for deer hunting. Now this law has common sense written all over it but some people who did not like it still looked at the rule and found a clever way around it; they properly read that a hunter must wear an article of clothing (vest, jacket, coat) made of blaze orange material. These smarty pants properly noted that while the law said a person had to wear such clothing what it did not do was prohibit someone from overlaying a vest, jacket or coat with a, say, camouflaged one. It took our state Division of Wildlife a couple of years to catch on before rewriting the rule to say that a blaze orange vest, jacket or coat had to be worn as an OUTER garment. Ditto with another Ohio hunting law that originally excluded red squirrels from the list of game animals. However and especially in southwest Ohio, state wildlife officers were encountering hunters in the woods during August (the state\’s squirrel season starts September 1st). The lads would thus tell the bunny cops that they were just after red squirrels. Well, everyone knew they were hunting gray and fox squirrels. Once again it took a while for the Wildlife Division to react before adding red squirrels to the list of game animals. I\’m sure the posters here know of similar ingenious efforts that people have used to exploit a law that they did not appreciate. This is why in many respects I like FN\’s thinking outside the box.. Best of luck with your product, chaps; hope it drives California\’s law makers batty in seeing that a black rifle can be built that thwarts their Anti-Second Amendment agenda.

Cal should ban all weapons. They are a sanctuary state and need nothing but more citizens from all 3rd world countries. We the people should put sanctions on cal. since they are or want to be a foreign country. Stop all importation to cal. Stop all export from cal. Blockade the state and see how they can support themselves. Just open the border to tj. and let the people pour in.

    • Z August 4, 2017, 10:35 am

I happen to live in California. I’m an ardent supporter of the second amendment and I abhor the notion of state giving sanctuary to people who’ve broken the law by entering the country illegally. Those things being said, you’re terribly uninformed. California is the worlds fifth largest economy. Yes, 5th largest in the world. There are over 36 million legal US citizens in California and a rather large portion of the federal budget comes from California. Essentially, the population and tax contributions from the sate of California alone are greater than the combination of the, “fly over” states. Yeah, there are a lot of stupid and oppressive laws in this state. Perhaps instead of hoping to abandon the state to the nonsensical legislators , move here and become part of the voter base that replaces them with representatives who enact legislation that repeals the helicopter-parent, baby boomer, retired hippie laws you strongly disagree with. If you aren’t willing to be part of the solution, kindly shut your mouth. There’s an adundance of words in the world and what we need is action.

So you’re in the denial stage of grieving for the freedom you gave up.

        • Z August 4, 2017, 11:50 am

I vote at every opportunity for legislators, congressmen, and state representatives who favor individual rights and responsibility over nanny state laws. You, in your infinite uselessness, make smart ass remarks on a forum.

          • R. August 4, 2017, 12:17 pm

With you Z. I am a California native. I have been shooting here for 52 years. Yes the nanny laws are getting dumber every year, but this is still a democracy… right? Still hope for change and lots of hope right now for Federal limitations on certain State powers.
Lots of good ideas here also. The good , bad , dumb and dumber are all tossed up in the air for discussion, debate, and votes.
Besides, doesn’t California, New York, and Massachusetts serve the rest of the nation as an example of what can happen if they stop paying attention? Yay freedom.

        • Dewey August 4, 2017, 6:56 pm

So, you’re in the euphoric stage of the fantasy that you have freedom.

  • Griffendad August 4, 2017, 7:28 am

  • Tj2000 August 4, 2017, 4:32 am

Well not to worry, I saw a news report where the land of the fruits and nuts want to be an independent country. The catch is, just like some in the black community they want to be separate but have the feral government give them and support them with money from our stolen tax money.
    Tj

    • Z August 4, 2017, 11:00 am

Why would California receive money from the United States Treasury if it was an independent country? Think before you type.
