NEMO Arms –Ahead of the Curve: Multiple Cans & 1 Stamp — SHOT Show 2018

NEMO Arms is synonymous with serious innovation, as they consistently deliver premium solutions in arena’s others dare not tread. Most iconic is the NEMO Omen, a semi-auto .300 Winchester Magnum powerhouse, a weapon that screams “ let slip the dogs of war!”

The Omen has been further developed for the hunting market, including a carbon fiber barrel for weight savings, providing Magnum power in a familiar rifle package. NEMO was among the first to market with a semiauto 6.5 Creedmoor that was also offered in carbon fiber and steel. With so much winning already on the books, what could possibly be next?NEMO Arms –Ahead of the Curve: Multiple Cans & 1 Stamp — SHOT Show 2018

New Cans

Now NEMO has decided to crush the suppressor market, with several incredible new products unveiled at SHOT Show. Led by an absolute legend in the suppressor realm, the NEMO suppressor division is poised for a hostile take over of the market. Get your popcorn, the show is about to start.

Leading the charge is the Operator Comp DT. Despite a naming convention that is highly questionable, the Operator looks like a winner. It is the shortest 5.56 suppressor I have ever seen. Also, it still has a 19 dB reduction. It is rated for barrels down to 10.25 inches, and comes with a patented retention system to keep the suppressor from backing off during firing. At a miserly 9.3 ounces, this one is sure to make waves. It’s at a retail price of $625, I think its competitors are in trouble.

Not content with a slow roll introduction, NEMO has also launched suppressors from 338 Lapua all the way down to 5.56, in a variety of direct thread and QD options. A rarity in suppressors, they also have a dedicated 6.5 Creedmoor can. That is coming out of the gate strong.

Impressions & Expectations

The coup de grace, however, is a doozie. Using a knowledge base gained from the USSOCOM S.U.R.G program, the Battle-Light SYN-COR is an integrally suppressed rifle in 5.56, out of the box combat effective. This is the first ever piston gun designed by NEMO, an advantage in many ways when dealing with integral suppression. The barrel is joined to the suppressor, giving an overall barrel length of 17 inches. That means only one tax stamp for the can. The baffles are removable and user serviceable, offering unprecedented noise reduction with ease of cleaning.

I’m a FFL in Central Virginia. Last summer, about a week prior to the shooting at the Republican baseball game, in Alexandria, I attended an ATF seminar held in Richmond. At that time the senior legal councel for the ATF Washington District announced that the Hearing Protection Act would be law in eight months, that ATF was fully supportive and was delighted to be getting rid of the monstrous amount of paperwork involved in the record keeping of sound suppressor devices. A week later the shooting happened, the GOP lawmakers dropped the ball, and the whole HPA was flushed down the drain. I doubt we will ever get that close again…

I say it’s NOT the stinkin’ Dems/Libs, it’s our own GOP/Conservative Reps that DON’T BELIEVE ENOUGH in those things such as liberty AS EXTENDED to us AS WRITTEN in the Bill of Rights & Constitution. We NEED ‘term limits’ for one so they’ll not get so damn comfortable in their jobs.

“multiple cans and one stamp” sounds like a market-busting way to minimize the tax stamp cost and suppress more than one weapon. But…I don’t see any mention of it in the text or video. Was that something they are offering?

I’m guessing the “one stamp” was referring to the one stamp integrally suppressed ‘SBR’, just poor choice & combination of words for the title.
I was expecting some type of modular system with a single serialized housing tube & an assortment of baffles all with the same OD but different IDs for different calibers. Kind of like the cans that have different end caps but having different baffles too. Does anyone make anything like that?

No hearing protection act. Where is the NRA when we need them? Did they give that one away to appease the Demos.

Unfortunately i seriously doubt we would ever be able to get the hearing protection act passed. It is an awesome dream but we cant get anything passed with all the dem resistance. Any legislation that has to do with loosening gun laws would go over like a turd in the punch bowl once it got to the senate. I hope it does eventually pass but not likely. It has been talked about since July i believe.
