‘Office’ Actress on Gun Control: ’40 Percent of All Gun Sales Have no Background Checks’

Jenna Fischer is supporting a new cause.  Gun control.  Who is Jenna Fischer?  She played a role on an American television show called “The Office.”  The show is no longer on the air.  But now Ms. Fischer supposedly acts in movies.

All things considered, acting is a great way to make a living.  It’s a rather easy job.  People hand you scripts, you memorize the pages, parrot the lines in front of a camera, and then collect a paycheck.  Easy peasy.  As an actor, you don’t have to think much.  Just memorize and recite.  Memorize and recite.

I think that’s why actors make such great gun-control activists.  They can regurgitate anti-gun platitudes without ever questioning their veracity. They can spout half-truths with a straight face because they aren’t compelled to think critically about what it is they are actually saying.

Fischer seems to fall into this camp.  How can I make that assumption?  Well, while working on a movie in London, she was bombarded with questions on America’s gun culture.  Below, you’ll see how she responded.

“They would ask me, ‘Is it really true, can you just go into a store and buy a gun? Why? Why do you allow this? Aren’t you scared?’ I explained the Second Amendment and tried to answer their questions, but as the reports increased, I became more unnerved by what felt like an epidemic of violence in our country that didn’t seem to affect other countries that have been exposed to the same movies and video games,” she told The Hollywood Reporter before attending the Brady Center’s annual Bear Awards on May 4 at the Four Seasons Los Angeles. “I started to investigate why that may be.”

When a European asks you “Aren’t you scared?” The correct answer is, “Aren’t you? Did you not witness the Paris attacks? In America, we have guns so we can protect ourselves. In Europe, you have nothing!  You should be the ones living in fear.  You are helpless.”

Instead of answering in that manner, Fischer began to “investigate” by talking to the “very moderate, responsible and comprehensive” (her words) Brady Center.  Ugh.  Her very description of the Brady Center shows that she did not vet the organization but instead bought into their playbook hook, line, and sinker.

I mean, going to the Brady Center for information on guns is like consulting with Jesse Jackson to learn about race relations.  It’s absurd.  Everything the Brady Bunch says and promotes is biased against one’s Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.

So, Fischer walked away from the meeting with the Brady Bunch with some real doozies.  For example, in the same interview with The Hollywood Reporter she echoed the stale claim that “40 percent of all gun sales have no background checks, so if you’re a terrorist, you can just come to America and buy a gun on the Internet,” and that “a lot of crime guns on our street that could be off our street if we shut down these bad-apple gun dealers.”

Just to be clear, The Washington Post’s fact-checking team gave the 40 percent figure two ‘Pinocchios,’ which implies “significant omissions and/or exaggerations.” And Newsweek published an article earlier this year detailing how criminals get their guns, noting that “criminals typically do not buy their guns at a store” and that “while there are scofflaw dealers who sometimes make under-the-counter deals, that is by no means the norm.”

In other words, Fischer’s script is bunk.  It’s nonsense.  That’s because it comes from an organization that ignores facts to promote a gun-grabbing agenda.  Sadly, Fischer does not realize this.  She’s not bothered to research or fact-check the script she was given. Instead, like a good parrot, she just repeats the lines. An actor, through and through.

Of course, she is one more “Expert”, getting her information from ” Trusted Sources” such as “The Brady Campaign Against Gun Violence”.
And, we all know that THEY wouldn’t LIE, would they?????

IF…you should happen to know of any future entertainment work that she does please let me/us know so I can be sure to boycott it.

    Thank you.

Without being excessively un-complimentary, this actress must have a serious case of : NUMB-NUTS. Where is the EVIDENCE ?

  • Charlie Porter May 14, 2016, 5:42 pm

Actors are people that have no real life and do not know reality, other than the small circle they are in . Spending almost their whole life speaking words and thoughts of others. It appears that many have confused the real world with the world of fiction and fantasy. As a result they have come to believe others words and thoughts, with out investigating the truth.

  • David Donley May 13, 2016, 10:26 pm

If a weapon was purchased without a background check, how would anyone, specifically those keeping ‘reliable’ statistics on the subject, know?
After all, at least one purpose of a background check is to record the sale anyway. Without a public record of sale then, there’s absolutely no way to know whether 40% is accurate or not…and as such it is at best an inaccurate statistic, at worst a damn lie. No survey will fix the reporting issue either. So reiterating this false number can only be for sinister or comedic effect. I would not care if 100% of all firearms sales were sans background check. Here’s why, the folks (and I mean the state and federal agencies) responsible for background checks are part of the law enforcement community. The same law enforcement community responsible for Fast and Furious, illegal search and seizure of firearms after Hurricane Katrina, and even the oft-reported perpetration of violent crimes using guns themselves. Now, I’m not beating up on law enforcement, I’m pointing out that the law enforcement community draws its workforce from the same population the anti-gun folks demand to be checked. And the fact that the law enforcement community is obviously unable to rid itself of gun crimes and violence in its own ranks is strong evidence that just as vetting law enforcement officers cannot rid its ranks of gun graft, it is even less likely that less rigorous reviews like, say, the NICS process will be anymore effective at improving public safety. In the end, it is responsible, moral people with the freedom to bear arms that will improve public safety, regardless of whether those people are private citizens or peace officers.

The World Health Organization ranks the US at 111th in murders per 100,000 population. With 4.2 murders per 100,000 with all weapons not just guns, the 110 countries above us don’t permit gun ownership at all. Honduras is number one with 91.6 murders per 100,000 population. Mexico, South Africa and many other South American and African countries are on the list. Of course the British wonder about gun violence in the US as they disarmed their citizens in 1996. No one in England asks about the vast amount of murders with knives in the US because the Brits have more people killed a year with knives than we have with all weapons.

    • David Donley May 14, 2016, 10:06 am

Out of at least 192 nations? Hmmm, not bad for the old US of A and our 2nd Amendment.
On the other hand, studi30, I’d keep quiet about those UK knife stats: if Whitehall gets wind of that, the Brits will back to defending their turf with long bows and slingshots and harsh language…just in time to meet the hardware of the ‘refugees’ on home field.

  • Bruce May 13, 2016, 2:41 pm

This poor “Drone”, hasn’t a clue. She just like having her name publicized because the 3rd rate sit com that she was in took away her spotlight. I feel sorry for these robots who can’t think for themselves. Just makes a jackass of herself.

  • DaveW May 13, 2016, 2:13 pm

She is correct… IF… you consider the guns available on the underground black markets run by the two major national motorcycle gangs and their associates. It has long been well known in law enforcement circles that Hells Angels controls the black market in arms, munitions, and explosives, from the Mississippi River to the west coast in the USA and Canada, while the Outlaws do the same for the eastern USA and Canada. Thus far, law enforcement has not been able to stop the activities of either one. Hells Angels, for example, has members around the world (and in about every American prison). They can easily set up “legitimate” corporations which can buy weapons, ammunition, and explosives, and those underground commodities disappear through a series of cutouts while enroute to another country. Any former prisoner when released has learned where and who to go to for their weapons needs.

    • rabrooks May 14, 2016, 4:57 am

So now it’s your turn to do the parroting? Anyone stupid enough to believe any criminal activities’ stats as presented by the feds, having anything to do with any motorcycle club/gang/group does us all a dis-service. You really should not be in any adult conversation. If you want to get an idea of what the anti-gun nuts have planned for us, just look at the history of extreme activities directed at the motorcycle community. This is the first group that has been subject to just about everything the law has been able to conjure up!
But I guess that some are naive enough to swallow the stats, hook, line and sinker just because they are presented.
Fishing would be a pointless venture, for only if the fish kept his big mouth shut!

Do what I do, boycott this cows shows and movies, if she really is still making any, I do this with all anti gun actors and WILL NOT buy anything from the commie states like Maryland, Mass., Con., New Jersey, New York, California, Colorado, and any more that I missed! If enough of us do this maybe we can change something! At the least I feel better about it when I tell some one why I don’t patronize these things! JOIN THE NRA

    • Bob May 13, 2016, 6:22 pm

      • Nathan May 25, 2020, 10:34 am

LMAO…FACTS! Love my Colts, don’t care what state they’re made in as long as it’s the UNITED STATES! Stop worrying so much about boycotting states and actors (one person a boycott does not make) and focus on not buying ANYTHING from China! Have a good day A-ron. 🤓

  • CountryBoy May 13, 2016, 12:27 pm

The 40% figure that the Brady Foundation and others are spreading are based on 251 Americans that had acquired guns between the ears of 1993 and 1994 and PRIOR to Clinton signing his gun ban on Sept 13, 1994 .

Here are some of the statistics of how those 251 people break down.

64% were purchased through a LICENSED Dealer
    17% from a Family member.

    These 2 alone total 81% .

Only 4% of guns sales went through a “gun show” or flea market and that is your “gun-show loophole”, NOT the 40% that Brady Foundation states.

At that time, another 3% were purchased via “mail order” like through a Sears catalog, but this no longer legal.

Either way, the 40% figure is based on OUT DATED data in 1994 and from a sampling of only 251 people, it it doesn’t even state WHERE in the country this sample was taken from.

“As an actor, you don’t have to think much. Just memorize and recite. Memorize and recite.”

    That is CORRECT !
Watch an actor speak in an interview sometime talking about anything but themselves and you’ll see a person stammering and stumbling trying to make a sentence.

  • Dave May 13, 2016, 11:07 am

Ok, first of all, an actress is not where I will get my political, or news information. She has the right to mis-quote all day long. Why they think there opinion matters more than anyone else really makes me laugh. I watch TV to be entertained by the clowns, jesters and so called actors. If I am entertained, I watch. I do not get medical advice from them either. They are my source of entertainment only, again my jesters to command . I scoff at their advice.

    • rabrooks May 14, 2016, 5:10 am

I actually find it disturbing that these people (entertainers)are paid so much for having no “appreciable” skills. But it does show the level of importance our society places on the job they do, parrot the lines, regardless of any knowledge or logic. Keeping us pacified/distracted seems to be one of the most necessary social functions. Teachers, not so important…….

      • rabrooks May 14, 2016, 5:13 am

Sorry! I am not including musicians and artists. Those I consider real skills. Singers might be ok too.

  • Harold F Baker May 13, 2016, 10:59 am

You cannot go on the internet and buy a gun without going through an FFL dealer. Where do they get these ideas? If such a site exists, tell me where. I can save $25 FFL transfer fee and $10 background check. Are these people so stupid?

    • Steve May 13, 2016, 12:28 pm

True as true can be. You can’t buy a gun legally without a check. What is the issue? We have too many laws that only hinder the legal owners and buyers. Why do we need repetition? It’s very chick to speak out about gun violence and talk like an uninformed idiot. It’s their right to embarrasses themselves, because someone with a gun defended their right to be a total moron. I’ve no respect for these so called high profile Americans forcing their opinions down the throat of other misinformed people..

    • ron May 13, 2016, 2:59 pm

Because, to people like her, the truth doesn’t matter. The ends justify the means. One of saul alinsky’s rules for radicals.

    • Robert McCallum May 13, 2016, 6:36 pm

You are both right and wrong. There are sites,, Gunbroker.com, armlist.com . to buy guns both are internet sites. As long as the guns don’t cross state lines and there are no state restrictions , it is legal to do face to face sales. When living in AZ , I found a Kimber TLE/RL II on gunbroker that just happened to live in Prescott. I lived in Buckeye and drove to Prescott. Met him and bought the gun. No background check and perfectly legal. Now in NH, I have bought several guns off armslist. Also perfectly legal. I have a CCL and sometimes people ask to see it, but it is not required. If a gun crosses state lines it must go through a FFL just as you stated. I have also bought from CDNN sports on the internet . Gave my Credit card and picked it up 3 days later from my local gun shop. But 40% , that’s a crock

    • rabrooks May 14, 2016, 5:16 am

Can gun owners, as a group, sue these kind of idiots, every time they slander us? I’m actually getting more serious about this……

  • BJG May 13, 2016, 10:10 am

  • Dillon Sheetz May 13, 2016, 8:48 am

Im a huge second amendment advocate and have been into firearms the majority of my life but I believe articles like this that passive aggressively poke at people only confirms the stereotype of “Stupid douche bag gun guys” that always seems to be so true within our demographic. If we cannot positively represent our cause, compromise within reason, and question the insanity of the NRA then we are not doing our duty as responsible gun owners. Chill out guys go shoot and have some fun, NO ONE is taking your guns away anytime soon and if they do, well they can try.

    • Ryan May 13, 2016, 9:29 am

Thank you, Dillon. You hit the nail right on the head, Guns America, quit trying to stir things up so often and stick to articles about guns and ammo, not people that are against them. This is not what your readers want to spend their time reading about. This is just as bad as the Canadian woman that you had on here last week ranting and raving about gun control. Just stop sending me emails if this is all you have to write about, S.H. Blannelberry and Guns America!

      • Richbwilkinso May 13, 2016, 10:54 am

That’s absolutely correct. The NRA is the ONLY source of truth on the 2nd -Amendment in this country! The Brady Bunch is a known source for lies and spin on gun rights!

    • dave ope May 13, 2016, 9:53 am

Wow!!! Your missing the point buddy. People nowadays are sheep. They just go along with whatever theyre told. As responsible gun owners we have a responsibility to combat half-truths and straight out lies. I think YOUR version of just waiting around till people come to confiscate our firearms , then shooting at them is exactly what the NRA is trying avoid. Responsible gun owners are not rednecks that want to shoot someone. They are peaceful people that never want to pull a firearm on anyone, but will defend there family and themselves . And to defend 2A in legislation is way better than shooting at law enforcement coming to confiscate your firearms. The NRA is not a bunch of blood thirsty rednecks . They are intelligent people who know that if you give anti-gunners an inch, they will try to take a yard.

    • Kane May 13, 2016, 10:31 am

The village I grew up in did in fact ban all handguns and would confiscate a person’s weapon if the opportunity presented itself. A city I have lived in for much of my life banned any firearm that was not registered before a certain date somewhere around 1983. If that ‘grandfathered’ annual registration should lapse then the PD would send one of “gun teams” to a residents home to intimidate that person into turning over the firearm. I am a lifetime member of the NRA and I challenge to list any of the factors that you believe comprise the “insanity of the NRA.”

    • Joe McHugh May 13, 2016, 11:12 am

Dillon Sheetz, almost have it down pat. You play the part of a “huge” Second Amendment guy who employs phrases like
. “compromise within reason, question the sanity of the NRA, cannot positively represent our cause”. Um, Dillon whose “reason” are you talking about? Yours, mine, the Brady anti-gun group? Pssst! There is no such thing as reasonable compromise in the Second Amendment. The Founding Fathers even admonished against ANY government infringements against the inherent right of the individual to keep and bear arms.

The insanity of the NRA? Come on Dillon, admit that you are employed by the Brady Anti-gun group! According to you the NRA is composed of people who are insane only because they actually promote the individual enforcement of the Second Amendment.

But your salient failure to convince anyone that you are a “huge fan of the Second Amendment”, is betrayed by your last sentence. “…NO ONE is taking your guns away anytime soon…”. If you were honest you would have written “NO ONE is taking your guns away until obama gets his gun registration, Oops, I mean back ground check law passed by the Congress.”
There I fixed it for you, Dillon.

Liberals like Dillon don’t know what they are doing, This point cannot be stressed enough.

      • dave ope May 13, 2016, 3:04 pm

Ms. Fischer should get to the root of the problem. Jenna, go visit all the Hollywood producers and directors you can and start a campaign for the film industry to give up their guns. Stop making films with firearms, it just creates a mystique of the gun. Then in a generation or two, even if it doesn’t work you and your associates will be able to claim the moral high ground. Oh, and you’ll never work in cinema again. Still, a small price to pay to save society.

At least she got one thing right… it’s an “epidemic of violence”, not a gun problem. This, so called “epidemic” is part of a culture of violence in our larger cities that most european countries have yet to (but soon will) experience.

    • BR549 May 13, 2016, 8:58 am

An “epidemic of violence” caused by the continued efforts by power-mongering politicians with Small Penis Syndrome to disempower all those who they’ve trampled over on their race to the top. The “epidemic of violence” is the direct result of the frustration felt by the majority who have been disenfranchised from the very system they are being forced to obey.

The politicians and elitists have no one else to blame but themselves. Instead of nurturing man’s creative spirit, these clowns can only think of ways to stifle it in order to stay in power.

    • Kane May 13, 2016, 10:12 am

Maybe Fischer should go talk with her colleagues in the ‘entertainment industry’ on the various causes of the current “epidemic of violence.”

We gun owners, as a group/whole need to realize that we are the Politian’s. We need to educate the antis of what a responsible gun owner is as a person, or group. There are a lot of people in this world that, as you say are parrots, they reenact what they here. Information, facts, truth is fuel for any argument for the protection of our 2nd Amendment. Not antagonizing babble. We would be well better to teach, than argue with the ones that are unaware.

I am looking for the NRA to act as a platform by which more like-minded people can contact one another, meet one another, and assemble with the intention of forming more solid relationships, and bonds to stop the madness of gun control enthusiast. I am very pleased that there are so many responsible gun owners in America, but I’d like to know more of them. I’d like to see a way gun owners can truly unite.

  • John May 13, 2016, 6:17 am

I am disappointed in this article and am sorry to have to correct you.
But isn’t it spelled “easy peezy”?

  • Martin B May 12, 2016, 4:35 pm

I live in a country where owning guns is neither easy nor cheap, but I felt it my duty as an adult to maintain our long tradition of hunters and soldiers, to have on hand firearms for any necessary purpose. I do not understand grown up children who quail at the thought that someone might want to not only own but to use firearms. Are they just frightened by loud noises? Do they have such little self control they fear the potential actions of those who own firearms? As I have never been a criminal, I have never been tempted to use my weapons for illegal purposes. My government trusts me, and I will never give them cause to regret this. The exaggerated fears of timid mice should never be the main driving force of political opinion, and those vultures of the left should be exposed for the cowards and panderers t opower that they are. Liberty demands an armed public. Otherwise those at the top can do whatever they choose.

    • Lon May 13, 2016, 7:22 am

They have been taught by a government run education system and an elitist media that guns are “evil” and gun owners are all mindless followers under their control.

    • Another POV May 13, 2016, 7:47 am

The only fault I can find in your statement is this, “My government trusts me, and I will never give them cause to regret this.” That is the fundamental difference in the way the rest of the world and Americans think. I don’t blame you for thinking this way, you’ve been indoctrinated since birth to think that way – that it is you that has to earn and keep the trust of your government, not the other way around. Sadly, the US is moving more and more towards this type of thinking as the statist leftists/liberal progressives make gains against our freedoms every year under the guise of more safety, better regulation. In other words, people here too are being indoctrinated to the idea that the state knows best and will provide you what you need. Make no doubt, there is a significant portion of our country that would gladly make Obama our “King” and not be restrained by Congress or the constitution. CNN of all news “sources – http://www.cnn.com/2012/06/08/opinion/obeidallah-liberals-obama/

So I don’t blame you for saying that but you should know, your freedoms should not be granted by the government. It is the government that should be restrained in how they seek to put limitations on your freedoms. Like our last civil war, our next one will be fought over this same issue some day.

  • DRAINO May 11, 2016, 8:47 pm

A normal thinking person would think with all the illegal immigrant crime that is going on in Europe, they would be screaming to have their right to bear arms back. How screwed up is it that they still think they are the enlightened ones? The “sheeple” mentality has been bread into them…..part of their DNA now. I think they are a lost cause. I believe Hollywood also falls into this category.

B.S. The mainstream, non-gun owning public and Hollywood elite maybe, but not law abiding, 2nd Amendment supporting CA. gun owners. Some of you need to get off your California bashing high horses.

Apparently, “2nd amendment supporting CA. gun owners” are a minority, otherwise CA would never enter the conversation. The “high horse” has been born from decades of CA voters gutting the 2A.
