Invading a former professional wrestler’s home isn’t smart, as one young man learned just a few weeks ago.
WWE Hall of Famer “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan, known for tossing opponents out of the ring during his wrestling career, recently had to use those same skills in a real-world situation.
Duggan, 68, and his wife Debra were at home in South Carolina earlier this month when a stranger burst into their home, claiming there were people trying to kill him.
Duggan threw the man back outside the door, grabbed his gun — a trusty .44 Magnum (aka the “Dirty Harry” gun) — and held the intruder at gunpoint until the authorities arrived.
In an interview with “Fox & Friends First,” Duggan described the scary incident.
“We live way out in the country in South Carolina, probably 200 yards off the main road, down a dirt road. It was totally dark. My wife was the only one who had Christmas lights on in the whole street. I’m watching TV, she’s making the bed. And all of a sudden there’s this huge pounding on our door,” he said.
The intruder tripped and fell into their home, but Duggan quickly grabbed him and threw him out onto the porch, thinking it might be a home invasion attempt.
However, the man begged for help, claiming that people were trying to kill him. Duggan’s wife called 911, and he held the man at gunpoint on the front porch until the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Department arrived.

Despite the scary situation, FoxNews reported that everything ended peacefully thanks to Duggan’s quick thinking and the presence of a gun in the home.
Duggan admitted that if it had been later at night, things could have ended differently for the man.
“If it was later at night because it was totally dark I woulda been coming out of the bedroom instead of the living room, I woulda had a loaded gun with me. But this way, I came into the foyer, he was already in the house, I grabbed him and threw him out. And by the time I grabbed the Magnum, things slowed down enough and I realized he wasn’t a threat,” he explained.
“Thank goodness I didn’t shoot him or anything because it woulda been a horrible thing to live with but the guy did break into our house,” Duggan added.
Duggan said he had no idea who the intruder was or what he had brought into their home, but he and his wife were grateful to have had a gun.

He also expressed appreciation via Twitter for the quick response of authorities that prevented him from needing to use the gun. It’s a reminder of the importance of being prepared and having a means of self-defense in any situation, whether you are a famous wrestler or not.
