Description:
Springfield Armory M1 Garand, .30-06, serial number 14109xx, manufactured March 1943. Two tone receiver and knurled lockbar sights. Barrel is Springfield dated June 1945, with a bright bore and excellent measurements. Nice looking walnut stock. Other major components are marked Springfield. No import marks. All parts are detailed below and shown in photos.
We test fired this Garand at 100 yards with a full eight round clip and it shot great. You can see a video of our test firing at our YouTube channel, Fernwood Armory TV.
The gun has been disassembled, cleaned and lubricated. Parts were clean for photos, coated with oil and greased where appropriate when reassembled.
Part Details:
-Receiver: marked “D 28291 17” on leg, heat lot S10A, in excellent condition, absolutely no pitting, probably refinished although lettering and serial are sharp as new. This is a “two-tone” receiver – from a WWII heat treatment of the heel by being dipped in hot lead. This produces the dark appearance of the heel, which shows through any subsequent reparkerizing.
-Barrel: marked “3 S A 6 45” with proof mark “P” in op rod slot, “D35448-34-Y-193-A—3” on top, with “M”, small crossed cannons and misc other marks. Bore is bright, crown excellent, no chrome pads at gas port. External finish very good with only a little wear in contact areas.

-Op rod: marked “D35382 SA”. Parkerized finish in excellent condition, no pitting.

-Rear sight base: late SA type, unmarked
-Rear sight cover: late type with ribs
-Rear sight aperture: HRA/SA type, double track, unmarked
-Trigger housing: marked “D28290-12-SA” Small pad, cloverleaf hole, exc condition, no pitting
-Trigger guard: milled WWII type, marked “O” inside, probably SA
-Trigger: late type, no extra hole, unmarked
-Hammer: marked “46008-1 W.R.A.”, parkerized
-Trigger spring plunger: with wings
-Safety: round top, marked “SA-11”
-Front sight: 0.65 wide, unmarked
-Gas cylinder: wide sight platform, flat on top of rear ring, punch mark on bayonet lug, depression next to stacking swivel, probably SA. Gas cylinder group finish is excellent. The gas cylinder/barrel fit has been tightened to maximize accuracy.
-Gas cylinder lock: high hump type
-Gas cylinder screw: cross slot, poppet valve type, marked “T PAX”
-Stock: walnut, relatively few dings/scratches, unmarked, no cracks, heavy and solid with nice appearance
-Handguards: walnut, same condition as stock and good color match
-Buttplate: round plunger type, fair condition
Canvas sling and two M1 enbloc clips (no ammo) are included.
