Description:
HRA M1 Garand, serial number 47956xx, manufactured about 1954. HRA 7-54 barrel with a bright bore. Other major components are also HRA, including the bolt and trigger housing. No import marks.
This HRA Garand is in very good used condition. Metal finish appears original. Stock is walnut, probably GI, with a circle P on the pistol grip.
We tested this gun at 100 yards, and it performed well. It cycled through a full eight round clip with no issues, ejecting the clip at the end. Watch a video of our test firing at our YouTube channel, FernwoodArmoryTV.
Part Details:
-Receiver: marked “6528291” on leg. Excellent condition, no scratches or gouges, absolutely no pitting. Finish appears to be original, some wear on corners and on legs where wood contacts.
-Barrel: marked “HRA 6535448 7-54 RS34”. Bore is bright but used, riflings very good, crown excellent. Barrel ME: 1 1/2, TE: 2 1/2
-Clip latch: square front type, unmarked, probably SA
-Op rod: marked “6535382 SA”. Finish is in good condition but some wear in contact spots, absolutely no pitting. Op rod and bolt cycle freely by tilting when everything is assembled except main spring and hammer (Garands with binding or rubbing op rods tend to have feeding and/or ejecting problems).
-Op rod catch: HRA/SA/IHC type, unmarked
-Bullet guide: stamped with notch, unmarked
-Follower: late type, unmarked
-Follower arm: no bevel, unmarked
-Follower rod: long fork, riveted, unmarked
-Bolt: marked “6528287 HRA .U.”
-Firing pin: half round, no chrome tip, unmarked
-Elevation knob: marked “FZR”
-Windage knob: marked “DRC”
-Rear sight base: late SA/HRA type
-Rear sight aperture: SA/HRA type, double track
-Trigger housing: marked “6528290-HRA N”. Small pad, cloverleaf hole, excellent condition, no pitting
-Trigger guard: stamped with stamped hook
-Trigger: late type, no extra hole
-Hammer: marked “HRA 5546008”
-Trigger spring plunger: no wings
-Safety: round top, marked “HRA”
-Gas cylinder: wide sight platform, flat on top of rear ring, unmarked. Finish in excellent condition. The gas cylinder/barrel fit has been tightened to maximize accuracy.
-Front sight: 0.75 wide, unmarked, finish in excellent condition
-Gas cylinder lock: high hump type
-Gas cylinder lock screw: cross slot, poppet valve type, marked “P” with a star
-Stock: walnut, looks like refinished GI but the only marking is a slight indication of a circle “P” on the pistol grip. Very few dings/scratches, no cracks, nice appearance
-Handguards: walnut, also appear to be refinished GI but no way to be sure, both guards have a few marks but nice appearance
-Buttplate: round trapdoor plunger, had some checkering wear before refinish
Leather sling and two M1 clips (no ammo) are included.
