Manufacturer and warrantor is O.F. Mossberg & Sons of North Haven, CT. Construction is steel barrel, magazine tube, bolt, slide arms, and internal parts, with lightweight alloy receiver. Safety button and trigger group assembly are high impact polymer. Serrated round Corncob forend and factory issue Davis Speed Feed® buttstock are graphite based synthetic. Barrel is 20 inch .728 Police Cylinder. Sights are red inlay welded on ramp type front with windage and elevation adjustable, wing protected aperture or Ghost Ring rear. Chambering is 2 3/4 inch or 3 inch 12 gauge shells interchangeably, with a magazine capacity of 8+1 on 2 3/4 inch, and 7 + 1 on 3 inch. Buttstock is graphite based black polymer with stippled pistol grip area, and forend is police corncob type. Length of pull is 13 7/8 inches from the .300 smooth faced steel trigger to the end of the 1 inch rubber recoil pad. Magazine tube is dual contact type with M16 Bayonet lug or, less assaulty sounding, accessory lug. Weight empty is 7 1/4 pounds, center of gravity beneath the chamber. Each 590SP comes in its factory box with instruction manual that includes Mossberg’s 10 year warranty statement, and Mossberg cable lock.
