The two proof marks on the top of the barrel mean that it may have gone back to Winchester to be re-barreled or a gunsmith acquired the 64 assembly, and preformed the work. Some one could also have obtained a 64 assembly from another 64 and changed it out. But if my info is correct the proof marks indicate that Winchester or a commercial gun smith did the work. A non gun smith could not purchase these parts from Winchester with these two proof marks, and a production gun would have just one factory proof mark. The rifle has a 24" barrel with a nice bright bore, and good blue finish left. The receiver finish is gone, and the metal is browned. You can see all the draw marks in the metal from the forging process. It has a rifle stock with a crescent butt. The wood is in very good shape for being 116 years old. Has a Redfield peep sight.
