It is not a put together drill rifle. It was sporterized by drilling and tapping for a scope mount. The rear sight and front sight blade were removed. The rear sight base is intact other than the tapped hole. The bolt handled was altered and polished. It now sits in a NOS (new old stock) US military (not aftermarket) walnut scant stock with a NOS GI hand guard. Both are finished with tung oil. Being NOS, the stock has no cartouches or proof markings. The stock is in perfect condition with the exception of a sloppily (not by me) drilled hole for the front (bayonet) band screw. This is not visible unless the band is removed. I replaced the bolt with a NOS Remington 03A3 bolt which headspaces perfectly. Closes fine on a "Go" and nowhere near closing on a "No Go". The altered bolt is also included with the rifle. The barrel, which is the barrel that was on the rifle as received, is a 2-44 SC (Smith Corona) 4 groove in excellent condition with bright and sharp bore. There is no rust or pitting anywhere on the rifle. The two stage military trigger is clean and crisp. I have left the stock uncut for the altered bolt. The buyer has the option of replacing the rear sight and front blade leaving it in its military configuration. The front scope base holes can be filled with filler screws. The rear screw hole will be covered by the rear sight. Or the buyer may want to add a scope base and use the altered bolt (which also headspaces perfectly) and make a replica 03A4 sniper rifle. All the work is done for making a replica 03A4 sniper except notching the stock for the altered bolt and installing a scope and mount. Again, THIS IS NOT A RECOVERED DRILL OR PARTS RIFLE. It was just slightly sporterized. This rifle is again C&R eligible. Must be shipped to an FFL or C&R licensee. Please ensure that you FFL dealer will accept firearms from a C&R licensee.
