Most double gun enthusiasts are well aware of the reputation earned by the Winchester Model 21; a gun of far superior strength and mechanical genius that was under the micro management of John Olin himself. With only 32,000 produced (compared to 250,000 Parkers!), any high condition Model 21 is a valuable, investment quality firearm sure to appreciate as you enjoy its use. If you consider the fact that they made 5 times more 12 gauge guns than 16 gauge guns, and almost 3 times as many 20 gauge guns than 16's, then any 16 gauge becomes a very hard to find Model 21. From 1930 to 1943 they only made 1034 16 gauge guns in all grades, most of them Standard Grades or Skeet Grades. In the next 3 decades they only made a few hundred more, maybe 1500 total production in 16ga. Most refined double gun enthusiasts realize the superior ballistics of the 16ga. for upland birds compared to the 20ga. and readily choose the 16. This 2 barrel set has been beautifully restocked with French walnut, with a straight grip stock and beavertail forend, the metal has been professionally refinished to Winchester factory quality and specifications, and we custom fit a nice case to fit the gun including a leather trade label and accessories. With the original 26" IC/M barrels and an added set of 30" M/F this set is perfect for all of your upland needs. It handles like a dream with either set and weighs only 6 1/2lbs. with the 26" barrels...a very light Model 21 indeed! With the 30 barrels it weighs 7lbs. even. This is an heirloom quality Winchester Model 21 that is always going to be more valuable as time passes.
This is a sound, lightweight, Field Grade Model 21 that is as good as it gets for the shooting sports. If you are fanatic about originality then this gun is not for you. But if you want the best vintage American double gun capable of shooting the heaviest load you care to chamber, with mechanics that were second to none, configured to handle your every shooting need, cased and presented with class, at a very affordable price, then don't hesitate, as this one will not last.
