Here is the first specimen we’ve had of Ruger’s SR556 Rifle. Production began in 2009. From this SR’s 0 range serial number, it was manufactured in 2013, fifth year of production. Manufacturer is Sturm, Ruger & Company of Newport, NH. Type is piston mechanism gas operated AR15 type semi automatic rifle. Construction is steel barrel, bolt, gas block, and internal parts housed in an alloy upper and lower, with alloy stock tube and forend, and polymer pistol grip, magazine, and outer buttstock. Manufacturer number is 5902. Barrel is 1:9 six groove right hand medium tapered. Barrel proper is 16.12 inch, 18 counting the cage type muzzle brake. Bore, gas block, piston, regulator, and bolt are all chrome lined. Forend is ported, serrated low profile alloy. Sight system is 43 slot Picatinny type base, with detachable flip up elevation adjustable post front, and windage adjustable dual aperture rear. Magazine is factory issue Mag-Pul 30 round. Trigger is two stage .290 steel, and this specimen pulls at 10 pound vicinity with moderate felt creep. Buttstock is 6 position retractable, length of pull ranges from 10 to 13 1/2 inches. Overall length is 32 3/4 to 36 inches. Weight empty is 7.94 pounds, with center of gravity at the chamber. Finish is originally manganese phosphate parkerized, with anodized alloy, and this specimen has a serpent motif hydro-dip custom finish. Surface detractions are minimal, with no evidence of any residual wear underneath the custom finish. We rate this Ruger as Excellent, 95 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright and clean. From its pristine condition and our knowledge of its exclusive local owner, we estimate it was fired fewer than 400 times, no rounds at all for any Ruger rifle.
