The gun has been plated in silver over a nice scroll engraving. The 1 piece grips are just outstanding.This is real elephant tusk ivory, done 20 years +/- ago by Nutmeg Sports.I still have the certificate confirming the ivory was pre ban legal ivory.Nutmeg did this for me, I am the only owner since the grips were added. Gun has been stored correctly in a basement gun safe for the past 20 years,the grips have no shrunk,discolored etc. Just an absolutely perfect set of grips. Check out the pictures showing the fine checkering of the grips, hard to if not impossible to find another set like these. Nutmeg says on their site new rules are about to be in effect which will ban even preban ivory grips. This may be a rare chance to get a real 1st Gen SAA with a great set of ivory grips. The gun is all correct, black powder framed gun. The only serial number visible is the one on the frame. The engraving is not factory engraving,but is nicely done,no sign of rust or pitting on the gun ,just a really nice example. As you can see in the pictures, the cylinder has been turned,. This gun would really look sweet with the bolts blued. I have had this gun for at least 25 years,so not a newly engraved gun. This is only a 7 day listing, if gun does not sell I will put back in safe for another 10-20 years.Real Ivory gripped SAA's,especially 1st Gen guns should only increase in value as they will never be available again in the US.
