SS# 44xxx From a mid-west estate sale a WWII Japanese Military issue "Last Ditch" rifle with army hat, war era currency and Japanese war time photos. I don't know how to tell the cal. but it is either 6.5 or 7.7. (sorry I don't know what model this gun is)However at the sale they said this was a Type 99 Kokura and was 7.7 cal. but I have no way to authenticate this. The wood stock is in great condition with no cracks or chips but has a few dents and dings. It has the "Last Ditch" features of bolt, fixed sights and wooden butt plate (see photos). The metal finish is amazingly good with nearly all of the original finish in tact on the receiver and the 26" barrel however the mum has been ground (see photos). I am not a collector or an expert and know very little about this type of gun (therefore I took photos of every mark or stamp I could find on the outside of the gun but don't know how to take it apart). At the sale the only other information about the gun was that it was brought back by a WWII vet. Although I have not shot this gun, it appears to function perfectly but has a dark bore (I have not cleaned it) this is the nicest "Last Ditch" rifle I have seen and looking at the bolt face I am not sure this gun has ever been fired(see photos). The gun came with a hat (which I also know nothing about), two pieces of war time currency and photos (see photos). The money and photos are original and not reprints but at the sale they said they did not know the name of the soldier in the photo.
