Here is a lovely revolver if anyone has a replacement hammer. Llama began as Gabolondo y Cia in the Basque region of Spain in the early 1900s; the company introduced a very credible Smith & Wesson 5 screw pinned barrel revolver called the Comanche into the US Market in 1975, and this is one of the First Year’s production from its T 1 date code. This Llama Comanche comes to us from the collection of one of our distinguished Ohio veteran friends who picked it up locally in Lake County, Northeast of Cleveland. Basic style is full steel frame double and single action revolver with 5 screw type mechanism, only with a floating firing pin. Trigger is .375 serrated face semi-target, but its matching casehardened hammer has its spur missing, as the photos show. The Vent Rib is distinctive, and the rib, ramp front sight and adjustable rear sight are more closely patterned after Colt than Smith. Surface detractions, apart from the damage to the hammer spur, are minimal, only faint cylinder rotation marking. From its condition, we estimate that this revolver has been fired fewer than 100 rounds total since it left Spain 36 years ago. It is certainly excellent mechanically; bore, cylinder chambers and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. Blast effect to the under side of the frame top strap directly above the barrel’s forcing cone is negligible, only faint carbon deposits with no cutting whatsoever. Double action trigger pull is smooth and consistent, and the hammer travels an additional 10 degrees after the cylinder times into place on all six positions in double action. On single action, the hammer travels fully 25 degrees after the cylinder times on all six, and the single action trigger pull is a crisp original 4 1/16 pounds.
