Description: This is an excellent example of an Enfield No.4 Mk1 Cal. 303 British rifle. This is a very early WWII Enfield that was manufactured in 1942 at the Maltby Royal Ordnance Factory in Yorkshire, England. The Enfield No.4 MK1 series of rifles have a reputation for being very accurate shooters. This Enfield No.4 MKI has a matching receiver and bolt. The detachable ten round magazine is a mismatch which is common for field use rifles. The bore is mirror bright with sharp lands and no pitting. Rifle has two flip up peep sights one for 300 meters and another adjustable peep sight calibrated out to 1,300 meters. Stock appears to be walnut with the usual field type handling marks. Butt plate is zinc war time production. Metal has an even patina on the front barrel bands. Comes with what appears to be a WWII period canvas sling. This rifle was purchased by mail order in the early 1960’s so it is NOT import marked. Rifle was shipped with a No.4 Mk1 detachable grenade launcher. This Enfield is a very nice example of an early WWII non import marked rifle. Rifle would be an outstanding collectable or excellent shooter. Rifle can be sold on a Curio & Relic ffl.
