From its NV serial number prefix, this Harrington & Richardson / New England Firearms shotgun was manufactured in 2005. Caliber is .410 gauge; barrel is 25 inch Full Choke and so marked, exactly .400 inch muzzle diameter. Sight is traditional hex base brass bead. Chambering is for both 2 1/2 inch and 3 inch shells. It is Not designed for steel shot. Rifled slugs will not damage this shotgun, but it will not be accurate with slugs because the choke will deform the projectile. Receiver is original case colored, with blue steel barrel, steel hammer / trigger / breech lever; and with black polymer trigger guard and forend spacer. Stock and forend are traditional dark finished hardwood. Length of pull is 14 1/8 inches from the trigger face to the end of the butt plate. Right hand cant to the buttstock centers about 1 1/2 inches to the right of the barrel alignment, so this shotgun will be somewhat unfriendly to Southpaw shooters unless it is modified. Surface detractions are minimal to moderate, with inconspicuous occasional finish freckling on the metal, and moderate use scouring on the wood, mostly on the under side of the buttstock. We rate it as Very Good, perhaps even Excellent, 85 to 90 percent finishwise. Photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for our shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is excellent mechanically; bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright and clean. This is a local West Tennessee shotgun. From our knowledge of its exclusive owner, it has been fired fewer than 100 times. Weight empty is 6 pounds 8 ounces, with the center of gravity beneath the breech pivot pin.
