Date Code on this Remington 11-87 Premier Light Contour Auto is R R, November of 1997. This variant is the most attractive of all Remington's descendants of the workhorse Model 1100. It has glossy RKW DuPont finished American Walnut, very dark wood with a generous amount of fiddleback pattern; and its bright blue receiver has 2/3 coverage engraving. Pistol grip and forend are nostalgic diamond pattern cut checkered. We believe this 11-87 is unfired. It has no streaking whatsoever on the under side of its shell carrier, and no receiver contact evidence on its chrome plated bolt surfaces. It is excellent throughout. Its only surface detraction is a small short scar on the right side of the buttstock next to the recoil pad, one that the photos show. We detect no other surface detractions at all. All three original choke tubes, whrench and safety key is included, but we were not able to get its original box. Note the Ivory front bead sight and the middle brass bead on the 28 inch Vent Rib Barrel. This shotgun will handle 2 3/4 inch or 3 inch shells, of course, and as pleasantly as any 1100 ever made. Replacement price on the nearest thing in production is upwards of $1300 for the 82842 Premier Sporting 11-87, and $1000 or so for the plainer-Jane Sporting 12.
